I just happen to be flying into NY that morning, do you have room for one more?

Dates around Thanksgiving are pretty notorious for being stupid expensive to fly on. That and Christmas are usually peak times for flying home to family, and the airlines know it and charge accordingly.

The good news is usually Vegas room rates are pretty reasonable at that time of year, until people show up for National Finals Rodeo (and even then they don't get that bad) all the way through to NYE, so you can make up for the ticket a bit on the room.
