I sooooooo didn't realize that asking a prospective new friend's racial background made me a bigot.

Who knew!?!?!

I also didn't realize that by explaining that I thought his accusation demonstrated a ridiculous level of hypersensitivity was racist.

You learn something new everyday!?!?!!?

I would point out that there are numerous people of color, of various hues and various ethnicities in our family tree. Yes, most of them by marriage. But that doesn't make them any less family.

I could mention the number of personal friends I have who don't look like me.

However, I have a feeling that doing so would just get me into more trouble.  I would prefer not to be tarred and feathered today.

Confused, Perplexed, And A Little Hurt,

Paige

People are over sensitive and need to look in the mirror before they comment on someone. We are all one. I could careless about race. Your actions speak for themselves.

Don't  worry about those type of people.   They are not worth your time.  I hope to become one your "new friends" soon.

How you worded it to him?
In any case I never thought asking for physical description including someone's race was being racist.
I don't turn anyone down based on their race or weight etc and I ask for physical description including wanting to know what their race is all the time.
If you don't have some policy on your sites or ads anywhere it's a little annoying that someone would jump to that conclusion simply because you asked.
