My daughter just got accepted into CalArts.  I need some good financial advice on how to make this happen for her.  I am sure other providers out there have or are sending their kids to college, or going to college themselves.  Any tips? From providers or hobbyists? Thanks!

My email is [email protected] if you prefer to discuss privately.

Did you try applying for a scholarship? I know plenty are out there to be taken.

Start a gofundmepage take donations.

I took out student loans, and have paid those off.  Maybe she wants to work?  I started in College.  I worked for an agency. I answered the phones 1st because I was to nervous.  lol Body Rubs are an easy entry level position. Adult entertainment always pays well.  You make your own hours.  By the time I graduated I had my own agency with male & female entertainers. College great memories she must attend.

Good luck!

If she's 18, why not teach her the business and she can get her degree debt-free?  Otherwise, she will have to pack on the student loans.  I saw a UCLA coed for awhile that worked while she went to school.  Graduated debt-free with a substantial savings account and made a classy exit on her website with a month's notice to her customers that she was graduating and leaving the industry.  She had an incall in the Palms area, which is a little cheaper than Brentwood, and saw clients Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons, maybe seven or eight sessions a week total, most of them two hours each.

If you both share the incall on alternating days, it gets even more profitable for both of you.

Has she filled out a FAFSA? That is the first thing to do. Then, she should scan any grants or scholarships available for her area of study as well as potential internship sites. Loans are an option, though not the best. Congrats to her! And to you, too!

Yep, two of the providers I have seen over the years were actually "working" their way through law school.  Law school is not low cost.

You should have started a 529 college plan years ago.  Now you are stuck with Pell grants and possibly an NEA grant, both of which will be just a drop in the bucket of what you'll need.  Check with a few different banks, etc. for the best loan rates.  I don't think Calarts offers much in the way of scholarships, but definitely check it out.
