guys cannot PM if they are not VIP. they can receive PMs if they are not, but they cannot open the message. It asks you to join as a VIP if you click on it.  Kind of torture...you see the mail but can't read it. I'm guessing it's intentionally that way

I got it. TER messenger is not PMing in TER and it is not chat. Is it an alternate application that you have to download though?

I'm going to click on TER messenger and see what happens....doing it now

just clicked on TER messenger up on right side and nothing happened. Anyway, don't have time to figure it out.
