Probably one of the hotels near LAX. They're large, no problems with a lot of foot traffic, etc. BUT a big caveat: Don't opt for one of the hotels that are in Inglewood on Centinela Blvd. That's not the best area yet some of those hotels mislead you in their ads. Stick to the ones on Century Blvd, right next to the airport. Ciao!

It really depends on what you want out of your trip.  If purely business then I agree LAX isn't a bad choice, but there isn't much going on there.  If you like dining and going out, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood have good options.

West Hollywood sounds fun...

I had originally booked a really fancy hotel on Century Boulevard, right near LAX. I was super excited about staying at such a swanky place, and as my trip got nearer and I started doing more research..... I realized that it wasn't the greatest neighborhood. I read that Century Blvd. itself is fine, but go a few blocks east and it gets dangerous, and everything immediately to the south is industrial. Apparently it's not a walkable neighborhood at all, because anything of interest is too far away.  

So I cancelled by LAX hotel reservation and instead booked a place in South Bay. I read that the communities there are more fun, there's more nightlife (especially in Hermosa Beach), and that it's more easily walkable. It was tricky to find an affordable hotel so close to my trip (just a few days beforehand), which is why I opted for South Bay over Hollywood or another, more central neighborhood.

Beverly Hills and West Hollywood may look centrally located, during peak traffic hours the surface streets in these areas can become very congested, because they are a  deistance inland from the nearest freeways.  The LAX suggestion puts you near a freeway, but as others have said, not much of a nightlife in that area.  The west LA area near the intersect of the 405 and 10 freeways gives your customers good access from multiple directions.  If you want to stay near the beach in Santa Monica, its only another ten minutes from this freeway interchange, and there is a great many restaurants and clubs in downtown Santa Monica.  Just another option to consider.

....it's close to my work so it's much easier for me to slip away in the afternoon for a "meeting"
