What happens in LA county?

What happens to you (the john) when you get caught in a sting in LA County, CA?  Are you always arrested?  If you are arrested, how long will you be in jail before you can post bail?  To post bail, do you need to call a friend to come down, or can you call a bail bond company to do it for you to keep some anonyminity?  If you can directly call the bail bond company, can you just give them a credit card number over the phone or what kind of rules do they have?

I know these are unlikely situations and I doubt it will happen to me, especially since I go to incall locations and not the street, but it would make me more comfortable to know how long it would take me to get out of any messes if I got caught.  If I schedule my future visits appropriately then I will not be as nervous and hence have a better time.  I find that I end up worrying about how to explain to my boss why I missed the meeting the next morning.

Thanks.

If you join AAA, they give you a get out of jail card with the number that will get you bailed out of jail.  It may come in handy someday.

Are you certain that the AAA bond coverage would be applicable to this type of charge? Very interesting idea..

Sorry for the tone, but....

Your AAA membership includes bail bond protection for any motor vehicle/ordinance offenses. The General Insurance Company of America (GICA) guarantees the appearance of the AAA member named on the membership card in any court up to the card’s expiration date. The card can be accepted against an arrest bond up to $1,000 or to secure a bail bond up to $5,000 from GICA. Refer to the back of your membership card for a list of exceptions. You are responsible for repayment if the bond is used to pay a fine and the bond is forfeited.

Frankly, I'm a little unclear as to how this would be a "motor vehicle/ordinance offense".

I was so engrossed in all the items they did not cover (DUI, jumping bail, expired license, etc.) that I failed to recognize that only motor vehicle infractions are covered in the first place.  (My wallet card is a bit faded too.)  My suggestion therefore is to conduct any sessions with a provider in your car.  That should cover it.

Problem is that if you use your car in LA it will get impounded, which means big bucks.  You can usually get an OR release if you don't have any previous failures to appear, so posting bail is not an issue.
