The Lawyer,

I have seen tons of posts on this bulletin board about how someone can be compromised by LE.

How about some suggestions that help eliminate being put into such a compromising situation all together -- keeping in mind hobbyist are going to be hobbyist.

For instance,

i.   Tips on how to identify a LE

ii.  Unveiling a sting operations, etc...

Cheers mate!

Its not all that easy.  If it was, not everyone would be talking about it. As with all hobbies, such as camera collecting or rock climbing you need to check out the references.  Do some backround as best that you can to make sure that the product is what it proports to be.   Return phone calls and search out employers names, check references, etc.

As for a sting;  the reason they are called a sting is because you don't know its comming and it hurts when it gets you. If there was a way to know it was comming, they wouldn't do them.

Keep your eyes and ears open, use common sense and listen to that gut feeling.

Sorry that I don't have a direct answer to your question, I do hope that this helps.

TheLawyer, perhaps some of the other TER members who are lawyers, and providers can hopefully provide a list of the common gotcha's.

That would be great. If there are certain tip offs, or tell tale sign that would help avoid entrapment it would go a long way ...
