i responded to a fake ad a month ago.. and now i found that my number is a site that tries to expose solicitation. it pops up as the first result when i google my number
the site says that if i want to remove the profile which includes an alleged text for solicitation sent from my number and my number, I have to pay an "administration" fee. is this site just looking to make a quick buck? legally it almost sounds like indirect extortion to me.. should i adhere to the sites demands if i want my number removed?-- Modified on 6/29/2013 11:19:28 AM

This is the other side of the common blackmail sites about escorts or listings of mug shots when arrested. The Christian idiot was especially bad exposing the escort sinners nationally including contact info, photos and often detailed personal info - all legal since from public sources. I think he was eventually shut down by his web host because of copyright issues on the escorts pictures.

Change your free hobby email account.
Don't give them any money. Whoever owns that site is a sleazy blackmailer. The person who registered that domain name used a registrar in India, they are hosting it in Malaysia, and they are completely hiding their true identity. If you pay that person any money, and they don't remove your info, or they blackmail you again by putting your info on another site like this, what are you going to do, sue them?
Just change your phone number. In the future, do your hobbying and every other activity you do where anonymity is required from a separate throw away phone that nobody knows about, which is not tied to your name. Just pick one up at Wal Mart. Sad to say that these are the times we live in, where people can expose anybody they want for any "crime" there is, just for the purpose of extorting money from them, whether or not the accusation is even true. I was wondering if you can post a link to the fake escort ad? I want to know if we can suggest it for inclusion on the rip offs board or something similar.

Even it it's your real phone, get the number changed. It won't be long before everyone forgets your old number...
If you are going to play, you must take all precautions. There are scams on every ad venue, though some are worse than others. But WHY were you even looking there? USE TER's search feature.
As has been said, these criminals are located outside the US so beyond the reach of US laws.
change phone numbers
change e-mail addresses (close the other down) never use any part of your real name in the name field for any email account other than your primary (personal) and professional email accounts always use a secondary email and prepaid phone for all the naughty stuff never share face pictures with anyone by email if you have to share a face picture, blur part of it out never share the same picture that you have posted on another site like facebook, google+, twitter, linkedin, personal or business website because it is too easy for facebook, tineye, and google to find a match if possible, always try to watermark pictures diagonally before posting to the web or sharing via email, makes it that much harder to edit or steal and if someone does you can stay it was stolen from so and so website. Not a perfect way to protect yourself but it helps.i think i brought the site way too much traffic by posting the link

a while back they were doing this to providers too on a website called www.potentialprostitutes.com and they were asking for something like 100 to have your name, number and picture removed. it was a total scam and they were finally shut down.
Can the information posted on this website be the proof of soliciting prostitutes？so someone may get arrested
