advise>

MY NAME IS DANNY MY NUMBER IS 213-270-5051

I've been told that it's a very good idea to get an attorney who does a lot of work at the courthouse where you'll be appearing, because he/she is familiar with the prosecutors and the judges there.

It can be a little unsettling to see your lawyer chatting with the prosecutor like they're good buddies, but that's how deals are done.

I know a good attorney in Long Beach who is like that. He's smart, a straightshooter, professional (not sleazy in the least), and he is NOT a client of mine or anyone else I know of. If you are interested, email me at the email address on my website (link is in the upper right-hand corner of this post).

I am wary of any attorney who demands a fee of more than one dollar upfront just for a consultation, because I've been taken a couple of times.

Once you get an appointment to meet with a lawyer, be prepared to make a payment to retain him, but wait until after the two have you have met and talked and you've agreed to engage his services (except maybe for that one dollar upfront that legally ensures you have the confidentiality of attorney).

Hiring a high profile lawyer or one who "specializes" in these types of cases is no guarantee you'll be happy with him. Trust me. I've known a few and I could tell you horror stories (but I won't--you'll just need to trust me). :-)

Anyway, that's my non-professional advice, based on personal experience in various matters. That's why I recommend the guy in Long Beach.

Real attorneys, please feel free to correct me.

Most important, don't talk to anyone about the case except your lawyer.

I'm sorry you're going through this, and wish you the best of luck.

Laurel
