We are in Nevada, but want to check a man who comes from Iowa. He says he has no criminal background. We don't know if that is true. We aren't even sure he is from Iowa.
Is there an accurate organization out there that will do a background check for us without spending too much money?
Any suggestions?
Forget D&B... One of our companies furnished them with info which included inaccuracies as a test, and they published it as such, without any further checks. Its basically a money making org.
Have you looked at the internet? There are services that can answer your questions free or go deeper for a few bucks. It worked for me!

In my profession, I have background and financial checks done frequently. D&B provides financial reports on most businesses in the US, as well as many self-employed individuals. The yearly subscription fee is a few hundred dollars. Background info, including a criminal rap sheet, can be had through a private investigator for anywhere from a few hundred to a thou, depending on how deeply you want the investigator to dig. I had an unpleasant experience with a provider a few months ago. In order to protect myself, I had the investigative service I regularly use do an in-depth investigation of the lady for me. For less than a thou, I got a report listing the woman's actual name, street address, date and place of birth, where she banks, the average daily balances on her accounts, info on the auto she drives, her academic credentials, incl current enrollment info., etc, etc. In short, everything. If you want info and are willing to pay, you can get it.
