I confess I am very curious about the brothels dispite the continuing critisims found here. The reason is the very strong reviews posted about some of the providers. There are some great looking women out there!
My hestation in making the trip is the apparently required haggling  over cost which seems to be mandatory if you want to leave with any money at all in you wallet. Can someone give some info on what is realistic in terms of cost for a session and also, some insight on what is, and isnt, acceptible and proper dialog.
I think Im pretty fair at bartering but admit it dosent appeal to me in this situation. However I dont like the idea of getting hosed either from my ignorance.
I think the phrase Im looking for is "reasonable and customary".
Anyone have a view on this from personal experience?

Hey it's cool.  They will all line up for you and show their stuff.  You sit there on a nice plush couch and make your pick, like the King of Siam choosing from his harem.

The trick is to go when it's not busy with other guys thrashing about getting in the way and causing you tobe rushed and causing the prices to be jacked up.  Go on a weekday like Tuesday, either early morning or really late at night, like after 1:00 AM.  Be firm in your negotiations and act like you will accept minimal service for a low fee and then move up to better services for a minimal amount more.

It can be fun as long as you understand that the negotiation is part of the life of the place, so don't be afraid that the girl will be insulted or embarrassed by it, she will actually respect you more if you do a good job of it.

And yes, a lot of the gals are hot as hell!!

Believe me there is NO COMPARISON to using an Indie VS.   going to a btorhtl. I used to do photos and web work for Sheri's Ranch and  have  also  seen a few of the girls there. Trust me unless you are willing to  part with a few thousand  you will be sadly disapointed. GFE is  virtuall non existant. It will be  pretty much a wham bam experience. about the only plus there is is that you do not have to worry about STD's since they are required by law to get a test on a regular basis. I  have sort of wondered how often the indies get cheked and if they check out their clients. Anyone?

Great information guys...any suggestions as to which ranch to visit?  The Bunny Ranch sounds as though it's the best right now...The Shady Lady looks like it might be the least expensive.  What would be the best "value"?

5hamrock,

It really depends on several factors: where in Nevada you're going to be (or willing to travel to), what you're looking for (selection of ladies, price, PSE, brothel facilities, etc.), how much time you want to spend looking for the right courtesan for your particular tastes/needs, which "activities" you wish to include in your party, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

While each particular brothel usually has a "reputation", some are fair assessments and others are not. Without knowing something of what you're looking for out of the experience (and in which region(s) of the state you will be looking to find it), it's very difficult to recommend any one specific house over another.

Nevada being one of our larger states in area, comparing brothels located in different regions of the Silver State is often meaningless. The average visitor is usually going to stay within one geographic area only. Also, there is a quite a bit of difference between the larger "metro-area" brothels (those in Pahrump, west of Las Vegas, plus those just outside of both Reno and Carson City) and the cathouses along the rural highways and in the smaller towns (e.g., Elko, Winnemucca, Ely). But in most cases, quality ladies can be found at reasonable prices at most any large and most small brothels in Nevada if you have the time and make the effort required to research and identify them.

If you can share some of your preferences, I will be happy to give you my personal impressions of any/all of the houses I've visited (which include all the big brothels and a couple of the smaller ones) and the insights I've gained about the others from sharing information within the "Cyber Whoremonger" community. Please E-mail (no PM please) me if you wish to do so.

For everyone else, I'd recommend you first visit the independent (i.e., non-brothel affiliated) web sites dedicated to LPIN (Legal Prostitution In Nevada), most of which can be quickly located by doing a Google (or other) search on the keyword "LPIN" (TER rules prohibit my posting of their URL's since the majority of such sites have their own message boards). They contain a wealth of information: history, laws, driving directions and maps, house summaries, contact data (phone, Internet URLs, & GPS data), data on LPIN patron get-togethers, and more.

Pre Eros and pre TER. Those of us primarily concerned with safety from both a bad experience and LE, solely went to the legal brothels. When Eros and then TER came on the scene it eliminated most of the risk.

The brothels were a risk free venture because you got to do the window shopping in person and knew exactly what the girl looked like. However, beyond that it still was like a box of chocolates. I say that because you still didn't know what the girl was capable of. There used to be a really good website on the discussion of negotiating at the ranch. See the link below for the old "bashful" site. That site used to be one of the only places for provider reviews. They used to call them "field reports" back in the day. His site was very much the best source of data on the legal side of the hobby from 1993 till about 2002. However, sadly, the site is no longer updated as TER and other boards have done a better job of filling that role.

The statistics link I've added below is a useful tool for seeing what the real deal is. Or was at least back in 2002. Note that everytime I went I was quoted rates in the 500-1000 range. Most of the time, I get down to about 400 for full service everything.

From what I recall from the original FAQ on bartering at the ranch, the overwhelming piece of advice that I took away was that you had to be prepared to walk away if negotiations did not work. Then you would have requested a new lineup minus that girl.

The other word of advice was that you must specify exactly what you wanted. When I didn't I usually ended up only being allowed one position and one pop. Also, I'd stay away from the providers who went out of their way to say they were NOT GFE. The ones who said they were GFE usually would DFK. They were the best cuz they let you pop as many times for your hour or whatever you negotiated. The ones that didn't say anything on their profile regarding GFE would size up the Hobbyist at that time and decide whether or not they would offer GFE. I understand from talking to some ranch ladies recently who've gone indy. The overwhelming criteria for GFE was hygiene and appearance. I heard horror stories where a trucker would come in with have his teeth missing or rotten, hadn't brushed his teeth or taken a bath in days and then expected the girl to GFE. You can imagine that went over like a turd in a punchbowl.

The girls who actually specify non-gfe are usually the ones who least like the business. It shows in their performance.

Just remember, that its considered acceptable behavior at the ranch to say "I'm sorry, I guess there isn't enough chemistry here for us to agree. I'd like to request another lineup". That usually motivates a girl because the ranch owners generally look down upon a girl playing too hardball.

One last advice. The chicken ranch as you probably know is right next to Sheri's ranch. I tried sherri's many times and never found the girls form the web pages showing up for their lineup. Whereas I walked out three occasions and went next door to the Chicken Ranch and all the ladies (except the ones in session) would line up. Also remember that showing up at slow times like early afternoon will likely get you better bargaining options because the girls are not as busy. Showing up at dinner or after 8 when the parking lot is full will generally put you at a negotiating disadvantage.

Prices have come down since 2002.  Remember the boom?  Then came the bust, and there wasn't as much money floating around.  You can still pay thousands, but the rates available via negotiation are lower.  You still pay a premium over an indie, but it might be more like 20 or 30%, not 100 or 200%.  Remember also that Pahrump baselines on Las Vegas rates.  The Reno ranches are yet more reasonable (though perhaps not as many top-notch choices.

After 2002 I felt there was little reason to schlep 70 miles out into the desert from Sin City when I could be reasonably assured of some level of certainty of experience. That in my view is the net combined result of Eros and TER.

Another drop in prices, how are youat the  math?
the place, time and feeling? is there such a price?
have you been there? in person or tapping away on the computer? where did you get the stats? extemely curious. I trust you can  P.M

...is NOT actually "Bashful's OLD site", but is owned/operated by Interested_bystander, with both Bashful and Border Bandit assisting in its operation. It is a site solely dedicated to the LPIN (Legal Prostitution in Nevada) side of the sexual services business (whereas TER covers indies, agencies, brothels, and more). IB's site also is home to my LPIN Driving Directions (with directions AND maps for all of Nevada's legal cathouses) and yes, even still contains current "Field Reports" (reviews) posted by customers (though not as many or as frequently as on the old Georgia Powers' "GP Pays" site or Bashful's original "paranoia.com" site). The site also seves as the official home for the Cyber WhoreMongers Club (CWMC) and contains information about our annual gathering each July in the Reno / Carson City area.

Unfortunately, because IB's site also contains a Message Board, current TER Rules prohibit my directly linking to it here (even though its board is restricted to LPIN topics only). However, for those interested in further exploring that site, the URL can easily be determined (or you can E-mail me to obtain it - please do not PM me here at TER as I current cannot respond).

Many guys have gotten a skewed opinion of LPIN from watching the HBO series "Cathouse", which was filmed at the Moonlite BunnyRanch in Mound House (just outside of Carson City). The situations portrayed in those specials and the subsequent series are NOT typical, especially with regard to the negotiation process. The prices quoted on that show (and often accepted without hesitation by "clients" who were revealed in the small print of the credits to be "friends" of brothel's propriator) were so atypical that they even drew laughs from some of the working ladies I viewed one of the shows with while seated at the bar in the BunnyRanch itself.

But prices aside, many guys still prefer LPIN over taking a chance with indies, agencies, or worse yet: bar girls or common streetwalkers. And it's often tough for a newbie to obtain the references often required by Nevada's top indies, so LPIN is sometimes a very attractive alternative (not to mention the fact that most, if not all, agencies in Las Vegas are disreputable). In fact, I often recommend LPIN to first-timers as a way to get established in the hobby. Many brothel courtesans later go indie, and even if they don't, are usually more than willing to provide references to their "sisters" in the business on behalf of a gentleman they have seen before.

But I certainly agree that Internet sites such as TER, Eros, CityVibe, and others have done a good job of de-mystifying and simplifying the indie side of the business - to the great benefit of all, except for those misguided moralists who do not accept the legitimicy of the professional sexual services trade and the scumbag pimps who exploit (and often abuse) some providers.
