Hello all,

Let me explain the scenario.  My wife and I were in Vegas for the weekend (just got back).  We made arrangements to meet up with a lady for a date who was highly recommended on this site.
The day of, my wife got sick (don't try to save money on the buffet...trust me) and we had to cancel at 11:30 AM for a 5:00 PM date.  At 1AM that morning I get a call requesting a $200 late cancellation charge.

I paid it.

Questions:
1. Is this legit?  I'm a newbie to the hobby (this weekend was to be my first experience.

Thanks in advance!

I personally think that you shouldn't have paid and I would never give money to anyone who had the nerve to call at 1 am. The responses by the ladies should be interesting.

I personally wouldn't ever ask for a cancellation fee , In fact I even had clients offer a fee for a last minute cancellation  and I declined ......things happen , we are all human .......we can get sick , unexpected things can  happen to both side .........You just have to deal with it and chalk it up.

Of course it is easy to deal with if that doesn't happen often ;-)
So ladies who have many last minute cancellations may require a non refundable deposit . But at that point you are aware of what you are getting yourself into and it is your choice to book or not .

BUT to call someone at 1:00 am to demand a deposit ?? I think that is so out of line . I am surprised you even did it .....like what was she going to do if you didn't pay up ? call your wife ?? LOL LOL

You say it is a lady who is highly recommended here , that is a bit odd. Although I can't speak for others all the top ladies I know personally would never call at 1:00 am demanding a cancellation fee .

Sorry to hear this happened to you ,
Sorry you had to pay for nothing ..........well looks like you know who you WILL NOT be calling next time your in Vegas ;-) .......
So in the short run she made an extra $200 . In the long run I think she is missing out on so much more ........
Hope your next Vegas visit will be better .
Peace and God Bless America !

I wish I got two hundred bucks for every cancelled appointment
I have encountered. Good grief. Sounds to me like someone took advantage of your newbie status. Shame on them. I suggest

Okay,

so I got taken for being a newbie.

BTW....my wife was a little bit leary of the whole thing because she's got a visible job, so she was the one who wanted to pay...I was just pissed off.

Should I do anything?  Let's say hypothetically that this person was recommended by another member (BigPoppa last week).
Should I submit a review?  or just release the name?

Thanks,

Spankus

Since nothing happened, you can't submit a review. Best thing you can do is post to this board the ladies name. Expect to have a bit of a flame war if she is popular.

BigPoppa merely gave a recommendation. Since he is a respected reviewer, I believe that his recommendations are reliable.

I am interested to see what you decide to do.

I agree, spill the beans.  I'm a hypocrite because a simular thing happened to me a few years ago in Las Vegas for quite a bit more than that and I kept my mouth shut.  I didn't say anything because she was well-reviewed and had (still has) a following that would flame me off the boards.  She even used blackmail by holding blacklisting over my head if I made an issue of it.  She had the power to get by with it, because all the other providers adored her.  If it's the same one, you WILL get flamed by some big names, but anyone else who had a problem with the same girl might use that as encouragement to come forward with their story that they were afraid to relate before.  If by some chance it's the same girl that pulled the $1000 stunt on me, I will back you and share my story.  Are you willing to throw the dice?

Sorry to keep dragging this out....

But is there the possibility this could hurt me?  This individual has my name, and could make life difficult for my wife and I.

That's really my only concern...remember, I'm a newbie.

Well I just had an email exchange with the provider in question.  To her credit, she was very nice.

Two things were said that I should share:

1. I queried whether there was "a late cancellation fee, or something" in my initial cancellation call to her.

2. She also offered to return my money.

In looking back at the situation, I guess i was a bit naive in my judgement.  I assumed that this person would...guide me to whatever was appropriate.  It's a business, and if someone offered me money for free (or for cancelling an appointment) I'd grab it.

I hope I haven't ruffled too many feathers, and I apologize for misconstruing my original posting.

As a sidenote, thank you so much for the support/feedback shown on the board.

And I didn't ask for the money back.

Thanks for posting the exchange you had with the lady in question. I've know her for about 4 years and have always had a great time with her.  She has always been upfront and professional with me in her dealings. I'm glad you got it all worked out.  Hopefully next time you opt to partake in the hobby all things will work out for you.  I would still suggest seeing the lady in question as she is not to be missed!!!

Unless there was a stipulated cancellation fee mentioned ahead of time, I don't think the provider was right in taking the money that you so generously offered several hours in advance of the cancelled date. That's plain greedy. No one else does that--she was clearly taking advantage of you.

Sorry to hear that some of the other hobbyists are rushing to the lady's defense. Sometimes the "white knight" syndrome is overwhelming on this board.

About what about calling at 1:00 am? What's up with that?

Cindy Spice was right on the money in her response!

I do have a little say about this. I know the lady in question and she is extremely nice an a wonderful person. i dont think that he was taken advantage of at all. I myself with any 3 hr. appoit or more ask for a deposit up front to ensure that my time is locked in so to speak. I always tell the gentleman that if you have to cancel i will understand. But if it is on the same day that a gentleman has to cancel he should want to give you a little something for your time. it is hard to rescedule that same day. I dont take same day appoit. so it would be hard to get that time back for myself. If they do cancel that day and sometimes at the last min. I do ask for a cancellation fee. I leave it up to the gentleman to decide what he would like to give me. I believe that if a true gentleman has to cancel that he would out of courtesy of a ladies time and effort to see him to try and make up for that with a small token. So all of these ladies that say they dont take cancellation fees i know alot that do. Don't look down on her because of this. and If I am not mistaken he offerend to give her that token. As far as having a back up plan that is not possible. That is like double booking 2 clients at the same time in hopes that one might cancel on you. You cannot do that because what if they both confirm then you are cancelling one of them and what does that say about you. If you are doing a 1 or 2 hr. then no big deal but a 3 hr or more you should get something back if there is a last min. cancellation especially like I said if you dont take same day appoit. I have know this lady for a long time. She had every right to take his gift to say he was sorry especially if he offered it to her. Think about it ladies. It is our time. Shit happens of course but men should understand that this is our livelyhood and for most of us we depend on that. I dont want to get anyone angry for this. But I thought that I would say how I feel about it. WE take the time to e-mail back and forth, Talk on the phone trying to get to know them, getting  ready for our date and expecting that things will work out. it does not always work out but I do believe that a gentleman would be more than happy to take care of the lady that was nice to them and took time to respond and make arrangements for a good time.
that is just my feeling on it. Gentleman dont think of this as a bad thing. because in the long run if you see her again. she might give you a break on the rate. You never know. Be kind to oneanother and respect there time. Good luck to everyone.I hope I have not sturred up some angry feelings here. if so I am sure that i will hear about it.

Be safe and treat people with respect.
