Why is it that people seem standoffish in Dallas? I have been here over 2 years and although most are very friendly they are too busy with their lives to make time for a new friend?
I go to the gym five days a week I try to strike up conversations with women and men and nothing.
Other then the few gentlemen I see weekly I am soo lonely and cold :(
Maybe it's time to move again?
I would love your input on this.
What are your thoughts?

Sofia, I don't usually post but I love that you're making an effort to keep this board active.
I am from the Northeast and here on an extended business assignment and have found the folks here in Dallas extremely friendly.  I haven't had any problems striking up conversations and getting friendly social dates.
I don't know what gym to go to, but my gym everyone is extremely sociable.

Hope you give Dallas some more time because you seem like a great asset to the community.
Cheers :)

I would be willing to meet and make a new friend! Feel free to reach out to me. I'm near downtown Dallas. Maybe free tonight! Can text me 469-772-0417

I no longer live in the metroplex, but I only live about 100 miles out of town and I do try to make it to Dallas about once a week.  I normally stick to the "under 30" girls, but from what I hear you put most of them to shame.

Aww you  are sweet...I may not be under 30 but I sure have the body of someone in their 20's :)
I am just a gal all about the man.
When a man says to me I can't...I say just relax and let's try and most of the time I am right at least for 2 to 3...

for your reply.
I am not saying people aren't friendly but they are not open to new friendships.  Everyone is so self involved. It's sad 'cause i am the first to go out of my way for anyone.
I am honestly looking to relocate, the cold weather is a deal breaker.

So Dallas is a funny place and I often tell people it's a horrible representation of the people of Texas. I say this because a large portion of people living in Dallas aren't actually from Texas. It's a big melting pot full of people who are here doing executive work and other jobs and just moved here for that. They are always fast paced and you are correct, they are very self-involved and don't usually have time for anyone unless it benefits them. Areas just outside of Dallas are not like that and the people are generally much more friendly! Sorry you haven't had the best of luck in finding nice people to connect with. Hopefully you'll reconsider moving since it really is a nice a state to be in, but like any place, there are better areas than others.

Thanks for your input...I have lived in another State that was a melting pot, however the general population didn't see so self involved and not open to making new friends :(
Stay safe and be well.

So would you say people in Houston or Austin are more friendly, or at least open to new friendships?

I think people in Austin are much nicer and open to making new friends.
I have never been to Houston so I would not be able to provide any feedback.

We can hangout!! I'm from Dallas so maybe I can help. Give me a call at 214.417.5675 anytime - Wednesday night is always good. Hope to hear from you. Nancy

As a southern city, Dallas needs to do better!

I do hope what the previous commenter said about the issue being out-of-towners who are not representative of Texas culture is true.

I hope you find some friends and if I visit, I’d happily meet for drinks and dinner at Smoke (one of my fave Dallas restaurants) or Velvet Taco n

the ladies that replied and offered their friendship.
I am grateful.
