I had scheduled a 4 hour appointment with Violet on Sunday, September 11, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. She had verified my references, confirmed the time and date, and promised to notify me well in advance if she was unable to keep our date. I live in Southern California and planned a visit to Chicago for the specific purpose of seeing Violet. I sent her copies of my plane and hotel reservations. She gave me her East Village address and cell phone number. She had my cell number, my O'Hare hotel number, my home number, my work number and of course my email addresses, both home and work. The week of our appointment I sent her some gifts from Amazon.com from her wish list. I also brought some local souvenirs with me as small gifts, and I stopped by a florist and picked up a bouquet of flowers on the way over, because it seemed like a nice thing to do. I arrived early for our meeting, called her cell number as instructed, and waited patiently. I called again at 2:00 pm, and again at 2:30 pm, leaving voice messages. She never returned my calls. When I returned home I emailed her but she never replied. There was no explanation or apology. At the very least, I think she had an ethical responsibility to let me know if she couldn't make it. I gave her every courtesy, and she repaid my kindness in a very mean spirited way. Unless she's sick, injured, or has amnesia, I can't understand why she wouldn't at least respond or apologise. Being stood up on such a date has never happened to me before. Any ideas or comments would be appreciated, especially from anyone who has had similar experiences. Thanks for your help!
