I just adore live jazz, (especially female vocalists!) and since I'm visiting Chicago (for the first time ever!!!) till about Dec. 4th, I'm making it a priority to catch some!

So any suggestions?  I especially love a jazz act with a female vocalist (think Peggy Lee, Julie London, the incomparable Diana Krall,) (And yes, I know I won't be seeing Peggy Lee or Julie London any time soon!)  There's just nothing better than a sultry, sexy vocalist with a lovely, low voice!

I definitely wanna check out Andy's, esp. Thursday night (not this Thursday, obviously!) to catch Judy Roberts...

Any other can't-miss venues?

Thank you!

I like that place too it offers 3 rooms one for  piano bar one for jazz & blues the other for rock.
The only reservation I have about the place , my first time there looked like street hookers
wandering in one came in with some guy to sell shoes to the barmaid.

Try The Backroom.  They are in the Gold Coast area.  Check out the website for a list and description of acts.

Andy's is downtown near Michigan Ave

If you want to trek that far south of the loop.  Was one of the true Chicago blues clubs for decades, although I did hear they moved to a new spot and it became a little more night-clubby.  Was a no-frills place, but the best blues acts would always stop there.

In the Coq D'Or at the Drake, the Bookbinder Soup is a wonderful prelude to a romantic dinner.
