My sources at the Tribune Co. have recently informed me that The Chicago Cubs are planning a huge centennial celebration, commemorating the 100th aniversary of the Cubs first pennant in 1906. That was one of the greatest teams in the history of baseball. They won an incredible 116 games that year in the days of a 154 game schedule, a record they still hold. However they lost the world series to the White Sox 4 games to 2. Perhaps a rematch next year could be in order. In the meantime the Tribune Co. has hired a team of scouts to scour the nations cemetaries in search of the gravesites of all those 1906 Cubs, including Tinkers to Evers To Chance. Locating as many as they can, they will have the bodies exhumed, cleaned up an dressed in 1906 Cub uniforms and brought to Wrigley Field, to be put on display at the start of the 2006 season. The real exciting part of this is that through a new scientific breakthrough, the Dead Cubs will be re-animated for a few hours, and play the current Cubs in an exhibition game. And even at this early date, the sports books in Las Vegas already have a line on this game. The Dead Cubs are a 2 run favorite!!!

You know you are a sox fan when you can't even enjoy a world series championship without degrading the cubs.....

so move on....don't u have a parade or something to be at?

I'm one of those Chicago sports fans that supports all our teams. The only time I root against the Cubs is when they play the Sox. When they blew the playoffs 2 years ago, I was as heart broken as you. I stated the 1906 Cubs were one of the greatest teams in history, with a record that will never be broken, 116 wins. So how is that degrading them. The fact is they are America's lovable losers, and people making sport of them is part of their charm. The whole organization is fucked up and big changes are needed. When the Sox had Bevington and Manuel as their manager they were fucked up too. The Trib, Jim Hendry, and Dusty Baker all need to go. They need a farm system that produces, and that whole team needs a re-tooling ala Kenny Williams. They do spend the money, but on the wrong players, and forgive me, but Wrigley Field is a sacred dump. Don't tear it down, but completely rebuild it like they did Yankee Stadium years ago. I'm sure Jerry will rent them the Cell for a year. I should own that team, I'd straighten out their miserable asses and bring a championship to Chicago too. As a matter of fact, If I owned the Cubs, I'd even root for them to beat the Sox. Now please excuse me while I phone my bookie and lay a couple hundred on the current Cubs to defeat the dead Cubs. SEE !! I'm not such a bad guy after all.
