So my fellow Carolinians I was sitting around the other day getting my financials in order, mostly because I want to start my training on being a skydiver, and I thought I wonder if anyone else has unique hobbies?  We all know, reading, mechanic blah blah blah, but do you have a unique hobby thats not THE hobby? :-D  I obviously like skydiving, but Im thinking of picking up pilot along the way also.  So whatdya got for me?

The first jump I made the pilot chute did not deploy---vacuum? after the rip chord opened the pack---only when I looked down at my altimeter did the vacuum get broken---Whew!
THEN when I left the plane for my first free fall, instead of falling face down, I was face up watching the plane get smaller and smaller---got me to thinking that the ground must be getting closer and closer---Yikes!!
Butt, if I pulled my D ring on my back the chute could come up between my legs, or tangle a leg, or arm! What to do??? O, Yeah---jump master said to ARCH---popped me right over facing the ground, AND I was over some barn where I could make out individual shingles. Just pulled the D ring and did not count---no use, if the main did not open:((  It DID and I only had about 300' of air cushion left!! When I looked up that canopy was the most boo full sight I had ever seen. Buddy later had a spinning Mae West that he screwed up and paid the price for not following procedure to correct:((
That "looking up" thing has been replaced by an even more boo full sight of a pair of soft thighs spreading to allow me to make a soft, butt wet, landing between them;P~~~ YUM!!!
Now I know flying/jumping is safe---LOL---just tell that to 3 of my childhood friends who have been burned to death in separate crashes:(( O, and I was almost number 4 one fine January day outside Columbus, OH, when not one, but BOTH engines quit on final approach---Double Yikes!!! Gas gauge reading was wrong!!! Switched wing tanks and did the soft landing thing:)
Enjoy your new hobby in the skies, butt as for me, taking up checkers:))

I also speak at events.  Usually veteran related events and things like that.  If you've ever been you mightve seen me without knowing it.  I also volunteer all the time doing various projects, usually veteran related.  Renaissance Fair!  awesome.  I love em.  Me and some friends go every year.  My one friend makes roman style armor he wears.  Its pretty cool actually.  As soon as you say "renaissance fair" people start looking at you funny, I dont get it.  Its a good time.

I have spoken and volunteer about the importance of organ donation several times a year. I volunteer with a hospice house in my local area and for fun.. I am a huge, Renaissance fair fan. I have a closet full of custom costumes, corsets etc. I try to travel to places every few years to the fairs that I have not been too.

(Gotta be thankful for injuries healing up!) Also very involved in animal rescue/networking/volunteering/fostering etc. As well as horse back riding, drawing/sketching, and cooking. Those all being the civie hobbies of course. ;-) ;-

I am going with the kids to the Renaissane Fair the day after Halloween. I will look for you...make sure you shake yourself in my face....oh wait...that might not be a great idea..:)

I would, however, love to see yor costume, if only from afar...
