I've pulled the list from Indy Week of all the Best of winners in Wake County. It's a little long, but you should find something delicious on it. If you just went to Ashley Christensen's restaurants, you couldn't go wrong. Wash away a hot afternoon at Raleigh Times or Raleigh Beer Garden, both are delicious.

If you're in Cary by SAS, BurgerFi is pretty good and there are usually some good drinks to be had there as well. There's a goofy beach bar on Harrison Avenue that gets a raucous suburban crowd, especially on weekends.

Best BBQ in the area,  you can have any type BBQ from East Carolina (vinegar based), to Memphis style rubs.  Their Banana pudding is superb!  Have to save room for desert.

The soup special is usually lobster bisque - the best I've had anywhere.  I travel all over including NYC and my favorite restaurant ANYWHERE is an Italian restaurant in Little Italy - Bruno's lobster bisque beats my NYC's fav's

Bruno's veal dishes are to die for

West Raleigh isn't the best spot, but as long as RTP evening traffic has slowed down, it is worth going a bit further.

Here's some suggestions:

new american/farm-to-table - Nana's in Durham
modern southern - Poole's Diner downtown Raleigh
eastern european - J. Betski's next to Peace College

I get the feeling you may be flying solo.  The three places above have good bar seating, so solo dinner is completely comfortable.

Other suggestsions

French - St. Jacques in Raleigh
2nd Empire downtown Raleigh - don't eat upstairs, but go around the side and enter the tavern on the lower floor - very small bar, so limited seating, but they have a few small tables also

How about a place with quality food and hot waitresses?

You can always google specific chains, but this guide to breastaurants is a good start. It doesn't include the Tilted Kilt in Raleigh or Wilmington, apparently (per the TK website).

Tilted Kilts in ILM is not only a Breastaurant, but also pay attention to them walking away from you with their lil tilted kilts, as Zac and the boys sang---"Don't be falling in love, as she is walking away;P~~~"
