A word of warning for the fellas (and gals too)

More directed at the fellas since we tend to be stubborn and hard headed.  Most of y’all that know me know I’m one of the younger fellas here or was when this board was actually a happening place.

Anyways a few weeks back I was having some pains in my chest and back that I ignored for about a week in typical man fashion. Typical man making excuses not to get looked at ( hell I hadn’t been to the doc in like 10 years). “I’m too young for this kind of problem, must be a muscle stain.”   “I’m not really overweight by much, must be something I ate.” The list goes on and on as how I ignored it.  Well after a week of pains and it finally getting worse I ended up in the ER, turns out I had had a heart attack and had a 100 percent blockage in one of the 4 arteries that feeds the ticker.

I’m great now, got a stent installed and made some life changes (bye bye tobacco) and feel better than I have in years. The point is fellas it could have been a lot worse if I had kept ignoring the pain it could have been a lot worse. I never thought on the front side of 45 and being reasonably active I’d have a heart attack.

Just wanted to relay my story in the hopes it may help someone else recognize the need to go get checked out.

On a positive note I suffered no long term heart damage, and my pecker still works!!

Glad to hear that your doing well.

Wow!!!

Scary story and we're so glad you're okay!  :)  What a blessing and close call :)

Even though I'm a woman, we face the same risks at younger and younger ages it seems.... And I still need to be more cognizant of listening to my body's signals and pain and knowing when it's time to seek medical treatment.  I tend to ignore discomfort and pain -- always claiming to have a high threshold and needing to "tough it out", but after reading this, it made me realize that being "tough" isn't fucking cool when it risks your life....

Thanks for the warnings and sharing your story...  I'm so glad everything worked out okay and that no long-term damage occurred to your heart or man parts. It sounds like there was a big silver lining for you and that you got lucky.... and it led to you eliminating some not-so-good lifestyle choices and now, you're on your way to living your best life :)

Your pecker thanks you too... So, now go put him to good use! :) lolllll :)

love, mf

Thanks for the kind words!!!!  It definitely gave me a new outlook on things, I’m blessed for sure!!!

How scary! I'm so glad you're ok!

Damn, quitting tobacco isn't easy
