I will be traveling through North and South Carolinas next week and was wondering if there are any major problems on I-40 after the road fell in at the NC/TN border.

last i heard it is down to 2 lanes,they really want you to go to johnson city then down to asheville on the new I26..i will be going that way(I40) friday nite just to see how bad it is,if i remember when i get back i will post a report back..
ok just got back,yes it is down to 2 lanes startimg at mile marker 1,its not bad about 4-5 miles and then they swap you back over,still lots of traffic so it will be slow going until you get back to 2 lanes east bound..
still it is not worth going thru johnson city,that adds an hr travel time for me and with this delay it took maybe 25 mins longer...
