Her mother has fallen ill and she's moving in with her to help her father care for her and help her recover.

I, like you, am very sad to see her go and wish she didn't have to go through it alone.

She hopes to return to the business but for now it will not be possible for her.

most people think. People are living longer so it is happening more often, that adult children are becoming thier parent's caregiver. This will be happening daily as 10,000 baby boomers (born 1946 - 1964) reach age 60 every month for the next 16 years; to about 78 million by 2030. So be proactive and plan ahead.

Hope everything gets better for her mother.  Best of luck for her and future endeavours.

Yes, it was my honor to care for my mom at the end of her time on this earth. Like Bella, I was an only child and everything fell on my shoulders. Bella will need support of friends---support groups, occasional time off for herself. Hopefully, mom will make that recovery and Bella will have many years with mom:))

Her taking on this responsibility(at 19) only makes me think that choosing her out of all those photos, etc. was an excellent choice on my part:)) Those kind eyes and sweet smile spoke volumes to me.
Alice, are you standing in for her, for those of us with appointments already on her approved to see books?:))

I say this not from some selfish desire but from experience. The constant caring for a loved one will drain the caregiver as well. It is almost as needed for others to care for her as it is for Bella to care for her mother.

Even though there are 10 of us, we all closed ranks and take care of our aging mother & father. No old folks home for them.  The most difficult thing for all of us was taking their car keys. It also gives me the chance to come home to NC for extended periods of time!

The saying is so true, "there is nothing finer than the Carolinas", especially the women!  Best of luck Bella! You actions says a lot about you as a person!

Wound up buying a house close to my folks during their final years.  Made the midnight calls easier to navigate.  Please tell her that after all is said and done, she'll look back on the hard, hard times with warmth, pride, and comfort.

I've read her these kind messages to her via phone and she really appreciates your understanding and kind words.

I wish I could help her but she's moved more than a few miles away... I'll miss her dearly.

As for taking over her appointments, she has informed me that she will continue to refer her emails to me if they so choose to take me as a substitute.
