Not sure about same for Escorts(new term), however, the Roman Empire had a way of IDing prostitutes in their society by mandating that if the ladies wanted to be/were prostitutes, they had to have their hair dyed blonde. WHY?  Roman ladies had naturally black hair. Natural blondes, in Roman times, were barbarians, specifically the Gauls, therefore, prostitutes could not be associated with the dignity of a proper Roman woman, they had to make themselves look like barbarians, i.e. Blonde Hair!
