BPD pops up in your people you may know list? (or they know you list)

"police used the first round of funding to work with Demand Abolition to create a profile of potential buyers — 18- to 64-year-old men within 25 miles of Boston browsing online between 2 and 3 p.m. — and target a Facebook ad to those people."

So do I understand this correctly?  The BPD is monitoring all internet traffic in Boston, figuring out the gender and age of people and sending targeted ads to their FB pages?   Based simply on the time of day they are browsing?  This can't be for real.

I think what it is saying is that they are using FB ads.  With that much money they can get pretty good exposure. The BPD can select the age group, gender, income, interests etc. Also what time of day BPD wants the ads to show up on the selected groups screen. The same type of thing can be done with google ads. However, it sure isn't too far to go to get actual person's information, afterall, it is there for the asking.
Ridiculus. What is happening to our privacy?

What a waste of tax payers money, the US should take a lesson from Canada where its legal and stop wasting everyone's time. I get so frustrated every time I see the words sex trafficking being thrown around just to try an manipulate people. Also yet another reason to never use Facebook.

If everyone is doing what they are supposed to be doing there will be zero problems  .

Seriously.

1. As clients, do we want to visit with providers that are forced into this because they were weak, young, naive, drug addicted, etc..  (or all of the above)? Definitely not.

2. As providers and strong women in control of your own sexuality, do you really want to be associated with human trafficking and slavery? Do you want clients that are OK with it? Of course not.

Unfortunately, much of society (including the current MA government) continue to confuse human trafficking, slavery, and rape with sex work.

I think we all understand the precautions necessary to keep ourselves clear of the effort to clean up human trafficking.  I do, however, worry about our privacy with the current occupants of the white house... then again we all are accessing this site using a vpn - right?

Be safe. Remember we are all swimming in the same pool.

It's because of the lingering puritanical ways left over from the Pilgrims. We live in a country where graphic violence is fine on prime time TV, but even mentioning sex is verboten.

Men had the urge and started seeing the light during their Sexual Tourism which has increase exponentialy since 2017.  The only reason Sexual Tourism is dying off is because there are no more men here.  They all now live happily ever after in their favorite Sexual Tourism destination.

LE may place their own ads too and get you when you show up, esp in hotels.

Monitoring all Internet traffic in Boston is a large endeavor. It sounds like they have an ad  on Facebook and it only gets placed into an individual's page between the hours of two and 3 PM and only if that individuals age is in their desired group.   Not that difficult and not likely to show up on everybody in that group who is logged on between 2 and 3 PM. Because of their budget, it probably limits the number of times that the ad popped onto someone's page  in a given day

That's so simple to do it's hilarious that people don't know. Unless you are very tech aware tracking general stats like age sex location is all readily available in a browser. If you use chrome for instance or gmail everything about you is stored and shared by google.

In fact providers that push you to use their web page form... they are using the same info to verify you... most have tracking agents built right into the form
