I would very much like some literature and a tantra chair as I am morphing one of my bedrooms into something strictly sexual. Does anyone know of a local store that specializes in this area?

"head shops" as they were called, were as ubiquitous as Starbucks.

They all had a dazzling array of imported psychedelic linen wall hangings, posters, amulets, pot accessories, crystals, and every kind of incense known to man.  I could pass hours in these places and often did.  Today they are as scarce as civil political discourse.

I just did a Google search for "head shops" and every single listing involved cannabis.  Even the Wikipedia entry on head shops spoke only of same.

Try around Harvard Square, or even Davis Square in Sommerville, but I highly doubt any exist anymore.

I bet they don't even exist in Greenwich Village or even Berkeley.

You may have to go to a plethora of places like gem store for those, and maybe import places might have the statuary and tapestries that make a room so holistic.   I'm not sure where to find incense these days.

By the way, did you check out the Goddess Temple site?  I've always considered that one to be a pre-eminent website for tantra.

In fact, I'll be seeing my local tantrika this weekend.  I'll ask her how she gets all the accessories she has at her place.  She really has an amazing set up.

Here's the link to Goddesstemple if you need it

hat in the world are you talking about? Tantra has nothing whatsoever to do with Egypt or the Egyptians. Egypt is an Arabic society completely different, culturally and religiously, from the Hindu and Buddhist regions of East Asia, thousands of miles away, where Tantra originated hundreds of years ago.

Here's what Wikipedia says:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tantr

Obviously have a hard time getting it upstairs into my nest hence the reason I was hoping for a store that I could go to with someone and actually pick it up rather than have somebody drop it on my porch. So I'm wondering if there is a place in New England that I could actually go to and buy one?

I've always wanted a room like that. I don't know if this answers your question, but you may need to improvise (in itself potentially fun) by starting with yoga-related furnishings. For an Eastern/Indian flair, you could try Mohr & McPherson, at least they used to sell quite a bit of sheesham wood furniture including indoor swings and the like. I know people who have them installed at home. Let me know if this is going in the right direction. If so, I potentially have other suggestions.

I just checked out that site. That stuff is seriously expensive. There is a store in Framingham. I cannot remember what it is called something International. Same type of stuff at half of that price. And I actually found the Tantra chairs online for $400. When I first looked at them years ago they were $1,200. So I will get this room together by the first of the year. This is going to be so exciting!

By the way, I notice you are using an alias as well as your regular handle on the same thread.

That used to be a no-no with TER.   Is that now OK

Gotta love it. Plus you can probably get most any book on the topic.

But while you're there, be sure to check out "55 gallon lubricant". Apparently you can actually buy it (only 3 left in stock). But it's the customer "reviews" you want to read. They're a riot.
