Boston

I prefer the Hilo (east) side of the Big Island.

The place is not only gorgeous and the weather superb, but the people were the most friendly of any place I've been.

Kind of expensive, however.

That's life.

So as most of you know when I turn into a pumpkin I return to my home on the other side of the country, however this past week I actually went home to Florida and then on my first cruise to the Bahamas. I was wondering, what is your favorite vacation destination?

For me, it was NOT the Bahamas!! In fact, I am very content to never return. The people were beyond rude and mean to me. So much so that we cut our time short and returned to our boat! Oh and they made me cry!

So that got me thinking, where is your favorite? Where is the worst? And what is important to you in a vacation destination?

Yours-
Kristin

St. Martin was very fun and friendly. Of course Vegas is great for many reasons. LOL :)

One of my favorites as well.  Also might try the Gold Coast of Australia. Miles of beaches, friendly folks, always sunny, (well almost always)

Nothing brings more joy than icy roads, potential for more snow, and mostly cloudy weather.   My preference keeping it real in Middlesex County!

Being that I live in AZ, when I do a staycation they usually are GREAT but are full of 115+ heat, with harsh UV, and limited breezes. But you do get a killer deal in the middle of the summer at the resorts in Tucson and PHX.

I went to one in Tucson last year for my Birthday in July. It was dirt cheap, and they gave us $200 in resort credit, plus we were able to get a Cabana with wait service for the day. Makes about 25 degree difference with the fans and water misters of the cabana. I would so do that again.

Not as resort-y, and a little bit funky, especially the Puna area south of Hilo.  Not rainy either.  Then there's East Maui, the Hana area.  Enchanted.
Of course, where I am right now in Jaco, Costa Rica ain't bad either.  Much cheaper and easier to get to.  And similar to Hawaii in many ways, except knowing some Spanish is useful.

Nothing like a great hotel, a beautiful woman, great restaurants and spa treatments.  Here are a few that come to mind.

The Old Corse Hotel in St. Andrews

El Monte Segrado in Taos NM

The Bellagio in Las Vegas

Matakauri Lodge, Queenstown NZ

The Windham a Hill Inn, Townshed, V

I have been many places From Asia to Europe and the US. If i should add it all up that is, the climate, peoples attitude, entertainment, and how I feel after spending several weeks, my favorie would be La Jolla near San Diego. Here people will always give you a smile!

Ahhhh yes I have been to Tucson a few times for work and on one trip mountain biked the Elephant Butte trail where I landed on a Prickly Pear and had to soak my butt for about an hour in the hotel hot tub to loosen up the thorn!  Another time we did Mt. Lemon and the nuke missile museum.  No issues, but I liked Sedona a hundred times more.

Have you done the Tour of the Gila in Siver City, NM? I have friends that do it every year. I've been past the butte but never stayed/camped.

I've never stayed in Sadona but are thinking about it this fall.
