but I'm not looking for approval or sympathy.  I just want to say this.

Tell the people you love, how much you love them.  As much as possible.

I found out today that my sister-in-law took her life this morning.  She was a young girl in her early 20's and was struggling with her sexuality.  She lived in a small town and her family did not approve of her lifestyle.  I talked to her many times since she 'came out' that she needed to be true to herself and then the people that truly love her will do just that.  I never tell people how to live their life, but I also dropped many hints to her that she should move to a bigger city.  Life in that small town with family, friends, neighbors and even strangers judging her made it tough for her to be herself.

Anyway, the point of this post is just a pretty simple reminder to make sure the people that you love know it.  I wish she would have called me today and said - hey, I can't deal with this anymore.  I would have loved the opportunity to talk to her one more time.

Thanks for reading.

May they find some peace in this time of grief.

Life is both precious and fragile.  And should be enjoyed and shared every moment.

And it's another reason why us humans should try to be helpful, kind, and understanding to each other.  Our time here on this planet is short and difficult enough already.

Hey man,

I am really sorry for your lost. It hard to gather strength in the time of grief. Life is very valuable and just knowing that someone loves them is comforting. A person who is going through an internal war, needs that shoulder to lean on for strength. I hoped that everything will be ok.
Like a passage I readed says: weeping may endured for a night but joy comes in the morning

Although I don't know you personally, I truly send you and your family my prayers and love. I hope that you all have the strength and loving support of one another to stay strong. Remember no weapon formed against us shall prosper, however, it doesn't mean weapons wont form. Your loss is not in vain because someone reading this message will surely take heed to what you have written, I for one will be telling my loved ones how I feel for them tonight.

 xoxoxo Love, Joi

I am terribly sorry to hear of your loss. I wish you and your family my thoughts and prayers. Your post does however remind us not to take those closest to us for granted. Lest it be too late to say and express how you feel. Again I'm sorry for your loss but a much needed reminder at times.

You have my deepest condolences and sympathy.  I, too, lost someone very close much too soon a couple of years ago.  Nothing can prepare you and nothing can ease the numbing pain.  You just learn to live with it.

It can't be stressed strongly enough to assess your life and your relationships with the full knowledge that yours/theirs could end in a moments notice.

Life is so short, and fragile.  We never know fully what it's like to walk in someone else's shoes, or what they are going through in life.  Words of compassion and caring, and love, are so much more valuable than criticisms.  Kindness has so much more strength than indifference and hostility.  Never miss a chance to show kindness and love, as we only have a limited time in this world to make a difference.

I know how much you would treasure just being able to have one more talk with her.  Your heart was certainly in the right place, and I'm sure you loved being there for her support.

Peace be with you, friend.

No human being should ever victimize another for the choices they make.

When they do, terrible things happen from which no one recover.

I am sorry for your loss :( I agree that we all should let those we love, know we love them.  If I could only speak to my dad one more time :( It's especially difficult when it's so sudden.
my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this terrible time of loss.

Preachers and religious folks say that everyone has a purpose and perhaps her example will help yo one day find solace in what she brought to your world - especially your sibling (since you indicated the deceased was a sister-in-law with sexuality issues).

Regardless of circumstances, loss is loss.

I've had friends and family who have committed suicide for various reasons - liver cancer in a 90 y.o., pancreatic cancer at 35, depression of a mother losing her only child, and a WTF involving 'Suicide by Cop'.

We all share all kinds of regrets when a loved one dies: not being able to say I Love You one last time, not having the opportunity to try to change their minds, not giving that one last token of affection (kiss cheek, hug, a firm handshake and nod), and various other 'nots' that can never be fulfilled.

My condolences on your loss and my best to your sibling.

While I am no fan of tattoos art, this simple expression makes sense.  A reminder totaled a pause, the story should continue, and often improves.

accept such human suffering and loss in this day and age where society has moved forward so much .. at least that's what we would like to believe. I am so sad and angry at the same time.
Peace be with you ... take care.

to the ladies that contacted me privately via PM, email or text.

I was very reluctant to even post this on TER but was so emotional yesterday that I got caught up in all of that and wanted to share this tragic story with the Atlanta board.  You people are amazing.  About 5 minutes after posting, I kinda regretted it, but once the supportive responses starting coming in, I was glad that I did.

Thanks again everyone.

While your message is absolutely correct, it probably did little good here.
I'll bet lots of guys called their wives to say they love them, right before cheating on them yet again.
Genuinely sorry for your loss, but I think having emotions that contain real value is long behind too many here.

Oh, I thought you'd quote some obscure study that supports the thought that
"Women are twice as likely to attempt suicide than Men, but Men are 4 times more likely to succeed."
Then you could say something truly classless like "Congratulations for having a Sister in law who is as smart as a Man".

But alas, you go for the same ol' "TER ppl are Adulterers so they just can't express genuine emotion." (pp)
If you're gonna hit below the belt, you should swing harder ScrumpyPants.
That's a joke, son. Swing. Harder. Ah, forget it. Just keep taking your blue pills and watch youporn.

So whore mongers are incapable of having "emotions of real value", is that what you are saying?

Once upon a time I would have told you to "Go Fuck Yourself!!!" but I don't think that is allowed any more, so "Go have a nice day" (while fucking yourself of course)

Sheesh, and I thought I was jaded.

It never ceases to amaze me that in this day and age people are still so small minded. My heart felt condolences to you and your family. This should never have happened. In larger cities there are teen centers that help deal with this stuff. This is evidence of the fact that homosexuality is NOT a choice. No one would CHOOSE to be humiliated and exiled in their own home by their own family, their own church, their own town. It is ignorance that sets up a scenario like this one.

This is a safe arena to discuss what others will only whisper about. It matters. I care. And as a bisexual woman, have been touched by some of these attitudes.
