IMO the best restaurants are on Buford Highway.

For Taiwanese go to La Mei Zi. Out of this world.

For Vietnamese, Nam Phuong is excellent.

For Malayan, Mamak is exceptional.

These three will not break the bank like the Buckhead places. All three are byob, which keeps costs down as well. None are fancy - though the food is out of this world good!

Good luck.

This is not an easy question to answer!  It depends: what are you in the mood to eat that night- steak, Italian, Southern, new Southern, Japanese, Sushi....?  What type service do you want- full service with all the bells and whistles or very casual?  Great bar AND great food or versa vice!!?  Depending upon time of day, do you want to dal with the traffic to get to some of the hot areas?  MY suggestion is to use these web sites:

Eater.com, http://atlanta.eater.com (this is my go to site when I travel, even more than Zagat), or

Creative Loafing's reviews, http://clatl.com/atlanta/food-and-drink/Section?oid=1222716, or

Atlanta Magazine's list of 50 Best, http://www.atlantamagazine.com/issues/january-2016-50-best-restaurants/.

Have fun and don't hesitate to be adventurous.  Also, not all the great food is inside 285.  Canton Steet in Roswell is a lot of fun.  Questions?  PM me.

Don't know if you mean best latte or drip coffee but for either- Octane or Dancing Goats. Both have multiple locations. I tend to go to Octane on Howell Mill at Marietta and Dancing Goats at Ponce City Market.

This brings up another response to Best Eatery questions.  Try the food halls: Krog Street or at Ponce City Market.  These are totally different dining experiences but as good as food can be in some of these restaurants.

Best Cuban Sandwich is at Havana Sandwich Shop @ Buford Hwy and Claremont Rd [near Aldi's].
Not much ambiance, but great food; authentic, inexpensive & fast. and BYOB.
Been going there for 20 years..

Don't go looking for great Italian in Atlanta you will not find it.  As mentioned La Tavola is good.  But we are not talking about NYC, Chicago, St. Louis quality Italian food.

There are a ton of great restaurants in Atlanta.  It all depends what you are looking for and how far you are willing to drive.  Rathbuns, Rathbuns Steak, Cooks & Soldiers, Iberian Pig, Union Miller, Panahar, Bacchanalia, Com, etc

I'll have to give it a try. The best I've ever had was the one at Kool Korners grocery on 14th street near Georgia Tech.  That place looked like a dump from the outside, but there was always a line out the door for lunch.  It was shame when they left town to go to another state.

Hals, Mortons is good too, Capital grille are all good for steak.
Imperial Fez for Moroccan. They also have beautiful belly dancers. Don't forget the happy juice at the Fez :)
Tuk Tuk for fantastic Thai. Great food, wine a sake!  ;)
Enjoy your trip and if you need a dinning buddy let me know.
Xoxo,

What, they have special Italian ingredients in St Louis? Give me a freakin break. Restaurant quality in Atlanta is as good as any city in the USA. Saying otherwise is just regional bias.

Haven't eaten at Fox Brothers .  Been told it is excellent and can't go wrong.  A place I do know is excellent is Heirloom BBQ.  A little hole in the wall place.  Tiny eatery, communal table and the  BBQ is EXCELLENT.  2243 Akers Mill Rd SE in north Atlanta off the 285.

Down the road from a ton of incalls in Dunwoody.
