Identity theft, sort of?

I heard of this happening once and thought it was BS then recently heard of it happening again. For a while there it was common practice (and maybe still is as I haven't seen anyone really new in ages) for ladies or screeners to ask for a selfie and photo work ID or DL. Even if one redacts the critical info such as b-day and ss# to feel reasonably safe, it seems a screener or lady who wants to spy on competition? may use that pic or pics to then pose as the gent attempting to book with someone else.

Anybody else heard of this? had it happen to you? My friend found out when a lady he had seen several times reached out to confirm an appointment he hadn't made. She sent him screen shots of the texts and the pics and he then knew immediately who it was as  he had only sent the selfie to one person.

PM me if you want more details.

To each his own.

This is a screening method that I will never consider.  If it means I can not see a provider, so be it.  My identity is too important to me to have something like this happen... or possibly something worse.

Any provider or hobbyist who engages in the practice mentioned above should be outed.   Protecting them does not help anyone.

The wording of my last post may be confusing.

If a provider wants a selfie for verification, that is certainly her right/prerogative/etc...  I am not sure of the value, but I am also not screening potential clients.  I will not do this personally, but it's cool.

However, if that provider then uses that information in a deceptive way, that provider is stepping out of the range of what is right.  That behavior needs to be exposed.

That is all I am going to say.

Who is it? I'm communicating with someone about an appointment and was asked to provide a picture ID. Wondering if it's the same person.
