My China Vacation

Just returned from China.  However, when I arrived in mid-July, I quickly learned that TER (as well as numerous other websites, etc.) do not work.  (I guess the government in China isn’t as liberal as ours here.)  So all of the useful information that many of you gave me, especially the place in Shanghai, was for not.  I didn’t print anything out for the trip and relied on just rechecking my email from TER.  Just a head’s up—don’t expect many websites to work.
However, I did have some TER fun.
I was able to connect with Fiona (who I believe was a provider at one time and currently is a mamasan).  I first contacted her when I arrived in Beijing but for some reason that I cannot remember (due to jet lag), we never linked up.  I contacted her again when I got to Shanghai and we did connect.  She sent over a lovely Chinese gal, Lily, around 8PM.
I had the time of my life!!!!!!!!!  Wow, Chinese local girls are gorgeous and I wish I could have packed her in my suitcase and taken her home.  (Had I had a bit larger piece of luggage, I might have tried!)  The cost for this one-hour time was Y1000, plus taxi fare and I gave her a tip as well.  All said I spent a bit less than $200.00 for one hour of pure pleasure.  You name—we did it!
I doubt I’ll ever return to China again in my lifetime, but it was well-worth the time and money.  The Chinese people are very friendly and the one gal I got intimate with was well worth the trip!
Have fun!  I did.

with Ventura!!'s take on China women and friendliness overall. I would like a contact for Fiona - a good mamasan is hard to find and keep. I will be again in China in October.

You had the money and you had a good time which is most important but, for any other Asian-bound newbies reading this, $200USD is well above market.  The first price quoted a foreigner is always the highest that the provider can say with a straight face.  They know that a certain percentage of foreign hobbiests don't know any better.  Unlike in the US, negotiation is expected and not viewed as cheap.  This is based upon 5 years living in Asia.

Yes, I did offer Y800 but was abruptly denied (by mamasan, not Lily).  However, as you said, I had a good time--much better than what I spend here in LA ($300-$400).  Again, the good time was well worth whatever monies were spent!  I did negotiate on some T-shirts, silk stuff, and some playing cards!

Yeah, the market is lower, but I find negotiating in China as a well-to-do appearing American, it is difficult to get the best rpice without literally walking away from a deal (of any kind).   The count on the fact that you will try to let them save face and not be a cheapskate and walking.

Confucious say:  Walking works wonders.

When I was in Beijing I stayed in an upgraded room at a 5-star hotel. The room was huge, and as soon as the ladies walked in and looked around, they wanted more money! When I told them their price was too high, they suddenly didn't understand English!

You're pretty much on the upgraded price structure just by being a foreigner and being in an Asian country.  By local standards you are rich.   Hence the only leverage is to be willing to walk.  And you will still not achieve the "local" price.

I guess when it's all said and done--did I have a nice time for less than $200?  You bet I did.  Would I do it again knowing that I might have saved 20 bucks?  Of course I would and so would all of you.
We can all nickel and dime all the wonderful ladies around the world, and I have been all around the world and have had the time of my life.  Perhaps I "overpaid" at some point, but that doesn't take away from the pleasure that I have received and hopefully, some pleasure that I have given.  However, I am fortunate and can afford to "pay the price," even if I could have gotten it for less.
I hope all of you enjoy life as much as I do!  Go USC!

even me and I was born in the USA and only speak English and some piss poor german and spanish. lol

I will admit to overpaying all the time, but when prices are so low to begin with, spoiling the moment by haggling over a lousy twenty bucks just doesn't seem worth it, but of course that what women the world over know about Americans, and they use it against us every time.

My sentiments exactly. I know I have overpaid in my Asian adventures. But the prices were still pretty good and I enjoyed my self.

LOL!
You/we all know that life is too, too short!  I have loved alot, and have loved often.  If I have paid or offered more than the "going rate," who really cares?
I have had some great times and experiences and I have never equated it to $$$.  Perhaps it's because I can afford this hobby.  I suppose that those who do not have my/our luxury, counting every buck here or there, might not appreciate my/our insight!
Love to all!
