My marriage is sexless. I see 3 wonderful women averaging 2 events a week. How do I get out of the house when I retire?

I have "Lunch" with a couple buddy's of mine-I sometimes let her know a few days in advance-sometimes I don't...but I do that so that I can block out the time in the event she wants to do something at that time.  Has worked great for several years.

You need to keep busy outside of the house.  Find a place you where you can volunteer on a flexible schedule, take up long walks, and/or hardware store trips for home repairs.  "Visit/have lunch with" old workmates, etc.

It does get more diificult than being able to sneak out for a nooner from work.

but you may not want to do that.  After 3 months I was going nuts with nothing to do anyway.  Just make sure it is a field she has no interest in.

and just waltz right out that door.

Or, do as Foody suggests.

I think mine is more fun though.

Where you can manipulate your work hours. The gym always works well for 2- 4 hour dates. You can even shave and shower before your date!

Really take it up. It'll do you good. And some of those "4 hour rides" don't have to be on a bike :).

You have got a lot of great suggestions but I'd further recommend that whatever you plan to do, start building the excuse now by either doing one of the activities and wish you had more time or complaining that you sure would like to do it after you retire. Then she won't wonder why you want to do this all of a sudden.

...all cell phones must be turned off so you can't get any help.  No Nimzo-Indian Defense for you!  And no inquisitive calls/texts from your wife.

Great suggestions.

I would also suggest that you start practicing your retirement "hobby cover” as of now. That way, when you reach full retirement, your "hobby cover" doesn't throw off any reg flags or raise suspicions, causing your wife to start to question why is it that you're so ‘busy’ all of a sudden

Gun Club. Go to the range during the day, have meetings at night. Have to wear hearing protection at the range, can’t hear a cell phone. Guys go out for pizza and beer after meetings, can be out pretty late. Put notes on the calendar about club meetings and gun shows you want to attend. Subscribe to guns and ammo magazine and have it sent to your home. Retirement can be a lot of fun when you join a gun club.

I retired a few years ago and it is much more difficult to get away now. My situation is made more difficult by having a 90 minute drive each way so I basically have to be able to disappear for 4-5 hours every time I want to go play. I have used a number of different ploys, including leaving the house dressed to go work at the farm and then changing clothes in my truck in a rest area!

BTW way, greetings to the 60 and over board. I am really not qualified to post here, but I'm 60 in a couple months so I hope y'all don't mind the intrusion!

The first rule of Chess Club is: You do not talk about Chess Club. The second rule of Chess Club is: You do not talk about Chess Club. Third rule of Chess Club is: After the match, shower before going home.

months.  Maybe join a car club.  The wife will stay far from that.  You could dream up all kinds of reasons to go check out a car, go to a meeting, a local car show, etc.

The best way I found was to say I was getting a massage with a LMT. Of course, I ended up somewhere else. This also covers for time and travel and if you come home with some kind of lotion on you, you don't have to explain. Oh, one key, don't say you're always going to the same girl/therapist,  it's good to try different ones. Good luck...been working for me for years.

Dear Ms. Vanderbuilt:
That is a good start but now one needs to do something strenuous to give themselves credibility.

Kara,
Considering how far you are away, that plan would not exactly hold water ;-)

but what is important is to have "separate interests" that  will  allow you to get away.  In fact, I think it is vital to survival, not only having the opportunity to play around  from time to time, but to I  can't imagine spending all day with my spouse (nor she  with me!) during retirement years.  Find some outside activities and then use a cover as has been suggested to have some extracurricular fun.

Too specific and so too easy to confirm.  Also not quite enough time padding.
