Hi gang,

I recently went on lisinopril and it has had an adverse effect on my performance. Actually causing a lack thereof. Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do to counteract it?

Same with many guys, including me; don't feel alone or unusual.
The other responses you got are worthwhile.
Reducing your blood pressure and getting off the meds is the best solution.

Good luck and welcome to the club.

Along with other benefits I have found my bp gets better the more I practice. But that's me. Plus if you are a fan of Yoga pants, that's the place to be.

Yep, same medication and same effect.

Bummer!

Viagra should not be used with it, according to my physician.  Some over the counter herbs are okay, but like prepping for an old sports matchup, psyching myself before the meeting and having a beautiful, intelligent, sexy, and funny lady works wonders.

The chemistry must be there

I am also on Linsipril for high blood pressure issues and have also taken Viagra in the past but now I am on Levitra. Please help me understand better by elaborating. Are you referring to Viagra and only Viagra or all erectil dysfunction medications?

There's a lot of good will and common sense on this board, but the bottom line for me is that most of us with any of these problems should be in regular touch with a really good urologist.  Here's my case, which may or may not be relevant to anyone else's:  I take lisinopril and then furosemide, which is a diuretic and offsets any urinary buildup.  I have tried most of the ED meds (and other stuff too) with about the same results:  no side effects, some help, results: mostly half mast.  My doc says Trimix will do it and we'll show you how to use it properly, but I'm not there yet.  As of now, I have a regular ATF and we get each other off by auxiliary measures, involving no artificial devices but lots of lips, tongue, fingers, moveable hips, hands and legs and any other helpful parts which can assume semi-acrobatic positions.  It ain't quite what it was, but sometimes it's quite wonderful and certainly more varied.  Luckily, my ATF is adventurous and is able to trump my ace anytime she pleases.

I take lisinopril and Viagra and my physician has never said there's any adverse interaction.

Same problem.  I had to get off it.
Doctor put me on Simvastatin.  No problem now.
There are alternatives and you should talk to your doctor about it.

As the previous post implies, see your cardiologist. There are other statins that work in ways that won't cause ED issues. My cardiologist explained why lisinopril can cause those problem whereas others won't. The doctor should prescribe one that doesn't cause you erectile problems but works for what ails you.
