I probably should have said don't kiss too many shillalys. Of course I don't know what that means either. Hell, I'm not Irish, I'm French and you can kiss me anywhere you wish! lol

a shillelagh is an Irish waling stick notable for it's gnarled appearance, being usually made from the blackthorn bush/tree, and its dark finish, traditionally obtained by oiling the wood (typically with butter) and hanging it in the chimney far a few months.  This can also serve as a cudgel, and some had the knob on top hollowed out & filled with lead to make a better weapon.  It is now common for many tourists to bring one back (without the lead) from a visit to Ireland.
And of course the Blarney Stone is located in the Blarney Castle north of Cork City.  The tradition is that kissing it gives one the 'gift of gab' or the blarney, based on an ancient legend involving a godess and the builder of Blarney Castle.  I've been to Blarney twice & kissed the stone (though most of my friends told me I needn't have bothered.
A Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!
