I sleep great at night steady for about 3-4hrs, but then I wake up around 1am & can’t go back to sleep. My Dr prescription does not work, so I bought melatonin it’s not working. I got valerian root & will try that tonight. I am curious if anyone knows any natural remedies that work consistently. Thank you kindly.

I wake up during the night as well but have a routine that helps me get back to sleep.

- I take the Suntheanine brand of theanine at bedtime.
- I take 5 mg of Natrol Fast Dissolve Melatonin at bedtime.
- I take 5 mg of Natrol Fast Dissolve Melatonin when I wake up.
- Using Bluetooth headband earphones, I listen to a sleep story on the Calm app.

This works for me 9 nights out of 10.

Get evaluated in a real Sleep Lab to see if there is some underlying reason. Then, instead of a pot luck "try this" or "try that" they can treat the specific problem. Here are a bunch of clinical trials in the SD, CA area:

She may have Sleep Apnea, which can lead to high blood pressure and other nasty stuff.
Personally, I use vodka. I only wake up once and go right back to sleep. If I have trouble falling asleep to begin with I take half a pill of Ambien (metoprolol tartrate) and it works like a charm. And no hangover.

It’s a drug used to treat hypertension. Ambien (zolpidem) is a controlled substance that’s a sedative, also called a hypnotic. Zolpidem affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with sleep problems insomnia).

If you really are taking Ambien, I hope it’s not after the vodka.

But I do take Zolpidem after vodka and it's no problem at all.

I split one otc sleep aid pill from the local drug store along with a shot of whiskey. If I wake up in the middle of the nite, I will just get a sip of whiskey. I will usually fall back to sleep in 10 minutes.

Sometimes I will take 5 mg of Ambien with a shot of whiskey. No problem with this combo.

I know that you're a fan of these sleep researchers. You'll need to find an assistant to apply there anesthesia methods to you.

I don't have trouble sleeping (I actually can fall asleep just about anywhere.) But one time I took some melatonin because I heard it was a good anti-oxidant.  That stuff was like a knockout drug.  It didn't hit me immediately, but after a bit, I could barely crawl to bed I was so tired.

Definitely take a sleep test to find out whether you have sleep apnea.
I also strongly recommend that you try Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia.
www.cbtforinsomnia.com
Buy the premium package since you get feedback from the designer of the program.
I believe it is $79.00.  You can also find professionals that can assist you with the program.

In my quest to eliminate sexual side effects, I stopped taking Zoloft (sertraline) and started taking Wellbutrin (bupropion) 300 MG XL.

Libido is definitely better, gotta tell ya: Wellbutrin has turned me into an insomniac! I have gabapentin prescribed, and that is effective. (I think it cures everything? )

I will try some of the formulae described here, and let you know.

I'm totally in to any suggestions or comments!

As your doc about trazadone.  It is an early generation anti-depressant but also works for some folks as a sleep aid.  Not approved for sleep use but it has worked for me.  I take 100 mg and it puts me to sleep within 30 minutes.  Not addictive and doesn't make you groggy in the morning.

Get some of the Cbd Gummies . No side affects and they will make you sleep comfortably.

I call it nature's remedy that everyone needs. Very cheap, around $15 for a 2 year supply  with this brand.  "Natures Life" It comes in a powder form.  Start slow with 1/4 teaspoon mixed in 2 oz water an hour before bed. You can up it to 1/2 a teaspoon or just a little less till you find the right dose. Google it to see how important this mineral is for you. It is bound to Malic acid so your body assimilates it. Meletonin works for me but gives me crazy dreams and brain fog in the morning. To much can affect your heart rhythm.

It might be physiological, psychological, environmental, or multiple factors.

Sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, stress, anxiety, a room that is not quiet, a bed that is not comfortable, a snoring partner, a restless partner.

I would suggest that you talk to a physician who specializes in sleep medicine.

They will probably recommend a sleep study.
