I got my eclipse sunglasses while in Houston this weekend since it was so darn difficult to get them here. Is anyone else watching the eclipse today?

I'm not sure where I'm going to view from but here are some places -
Smithsonian National Zoological Park
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the National Zoo’s Pachyderm Plaza (just outside the Elephant Community Center) will allow the public to use safe solar telescopes with free safe eclipse glasses offered as well.

National Archives Building
After peeking at the solar eclipse outside through safe solar eclipse glasses (offered at the National Archives), you can also take a look through history and see records from the building’s holdings about past solar eclipses. The solar eclipse glasses and solar eclipse gallery are free to the public. The event will be hosted from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
The National Air and Space Museum will host programming throughout the day in the National Mall building and in Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. They have safe solar telescopes, free eclipse glasses

University of Maryland Observatory
The University of Maryland Astronomy department will be on the plaza at the Physical Science Complex from 1 to 3 p.m. with telescopes and free eclipse glasses

Radiator is hosting a special happy hour this Monday on the rooftop of the Kimpton Mason & Rook hotel starting at 1 PM

DNV Rooftop is hosting an extended happy hour from 1 to 7 PM with viewfinders and boozy popsicles

Lena's Wood-fired Pizza and Tap in Alexandria, VA will have a special menu and eclipse glasses

As far as rumors about pets: Your pets will be fine indoors or outdoors during the partial solar eclipse so don't worry!

It's also DC Beer Week until Aug 27 so you could just have a beer at your fave places (I like Brookland Pint, DC Brau, City Tap House, Dacha Beer Garden, and Right Proper!) to celebrate the historical event!
