A bad sign?

Hey everyone,

I'm a new provider trying to get started in the DC area and have been discreetly getting the word out. I've run into a bit of a repeating situation, though.

I am CONSTANTLY being contacted by men saying they are willing to make an exchange with me. They'll be my driver, they'll give me a massage, etc, obviously for some free of charge time in my company. Or trying to negotiate with me based on my looks.

Most of all, though, are men saying "Oh you need reviews on TER to get any business, tell you what. Let's make an appointment, you give me a discount, and I'll get a review up for you."

Would a serious hobbyist really pull this kind of thing?

Thanks!

Now, do you need a driver or not? LOL, couldn't resist. Hope every thing turns out well for you here. Good Luck!

Personally I would never barter with you or request any special favors for a review. I would write you on the services provided nothing more or nothing less.

I think Jeopcon1 or slipry can provide you a better answer.

BTW; you need to link your pictures so we can see what you look like. Exposure is the key.

Since I started in this hobby, and having read enough ads that stated not negotiable, I have never asked or tried working a deal (not that it hasn't crossed my mind). In my profession, I negotiate everything and everything is negotiable to some degree - but I don't treat this hobby like I do work.

Recently there has been post I believe on the Boston Board where this same subject came up from an indy and possibly an agency. Each was contending the conditions of the deal were not for better points on a review - but a fair and unbiased review. What the discounts were I have no idea.

There are all types of people in this hobby - some with higher standards and other with no scruples at all. This is not limited to the Hobbyist, it can also be from an indy and an agency - but it is not likely you or I would ever find out the truth to the matter.

Yes, advertise is one of the fastest methods of developing a client base. Having someone review you here would do little if it cannot be confirmed with a site that has your pictures and information on it. Not many members here would TOFTT so to say, so contacting us won't help you much either.

Create a simple site with one of the free services out there. Or pay the premium to post an ad on Eros or possibly even Craiglist.

And for you sake, please, avoid all those who have less scruples then yourself.

Good Luck.

I'll just add that some providers DO offer some discount in their posted rates for those who have done a TER review of them.  Not required or necessarily suggested of course, but I HAVE seen it on some provider websites.

I'm always interested in a bargain but when I tell a gal that I post reviews I'm hoping for her best performance with the knowledge that any shortcomings will be noted. If a gal offers discounts for reviewers who am I to refuse. She's still only going to get an accurate description of my experience.

My reviews are ALWAYS objective and not subject to compromise.  I will NOT review ANYONE who insists upon any type of "strings attached", because there will be NONE with me.

However, I do offer a discount to VIP TER members, and VIPs of other boards - in any case, this is NEVER in return for a review, simply a recognition of someone who contributes to the community.

I agree with jeep and slip.

1.  no to the cut rate or bargin for a review - I would not think a credible person would do that.

2.  The ability to see pics of at least part of you or some other assistance would be helpful.

I'm working on a webpage right now. I've got some pictures, but I'm getting new ones taken, because I consider the ones I have to be too good.

That is, I took them myself a little while ago, so I only saved the best ones - the ones that hide all the parts someone may be slightly disappointed to see in person. I need some that I feel are less like false advertising.

But you can e-mail me for the ones I've got - [email protected]

Thanks for the help everyone!

...never take advice from bald-headed idiots in chat.

The best way to avoid this is to let some one answer your phone. I have avoided alot of a**holes like that. It has worked for me.

Almost every lady gets those type of emails when they start out.  I continue to get them.  DELETE them!  Most of those are from gents you would not want to see in the first place

Like others said, get a basic website or pics on eros where you can do a link to your pics.  Set your rates and stick to them.  Reviews will come in time.

You sound like you don't have the confidence you should, with your comments on your looks and pictures - although I do understand what you are expressing, Please remember, all women are beautiful, that there are men who would love to see you because of the very things you omit from your pictures.  Whatever you believe makes you unworthy of the best - find out what you can do for yourself to increase your confidence.  If you ever need to talk to a lady - need help with anything - email me, a few ladies and I do get together occasionally and you would definitely be welcome.

We all get these exchange emails just remember that you are offering a professional service, if you were to exchange services, it should be in exchange for a service you want and need, and one provided by a professional.

If you need a massage, go ahead, make an exchange with a professional masseur (maybe 1 hour for 2 massages, or a discount).  I really cannot see how a driver can be helpful, since many taxi drivers will gladly exchange services (lol - you wouldn't believe how true this is!) but if you would like to have someone to drive you around, make sure he is available at all the hours you will need him, and that his license is in order.

Don't let someone bully you into discounts - if a gent does not think you are his your type at your regular rate, why would a discount change things?

Most importantly, remember that if you provide a fun and exciting atmosphere and service that allows a gent to feel like he is the center of the world for couple of hours - the reviews will come.

Very good advice and it was really nice of you to offer your friendship too.
