Why do providers post an ad and then provide a link to an external site like Instagram or Twitter and have it locked down as no access/private site?  Maybe to sift out the flakes and try to get serious new clients who will request access? That's my feeling but would love to hear what others think?

Also, there has been an influx of ads that have FB links on them via the BP and a few other sites. Is that provider driven or did this get published automatically by the site itself?  Most of the links do not work so wondering??????

For some reason, BP is now requiring a social media link in order to post an ad. A lot of girls don't even do any social media, so the simply create the accounts in order to post their ads.

...in order to get you to follow them, to see their content.
To me, if you make your IG or Twitter private, and I HAVE to follow you in order to peep your pics...I'm not gonna bother.
But, that's just me.

Seriously. Seeing blank and empty tumblrs or twitters makes me think fake ad more than anything.

Yet another reason for me to avoid Backpage, haha. I flirted with the idea of posting a BP ad while on tour last week, but then ran into the social media requirement. And my personal website wasn't a valid social media site, according to BP.

Have become a joke.  But for some in desolate areas with no touring girls, just gotta search and hopefully find a gem.

If the BP is now requiring a social media link to be able to post an ad (and not actually verifying it), then that is the main reason for all of the links that go nowhere.  The BP is a major target and I assume this is a step towards trying to show that they are working with local authorities to make the site more legitimate.

Similar to the time when the BP closed the adult section and it all moved to the dating area, this is just another hurdle for them to try and keep the monkey off of their backs!

As mentioned above, if they just want the link for their social media account, and never verify anything, I would expect the dating section to stay the same, just realize that 9 out of 10 social media links are not real.

at one time to save that limited character space you could use html to add hyperlink to send potential client to your site (for example to fuller details on meeting etiquette). as far as i can tell that's ng now and you have to spell out a link that client then has to cut and paste into browser. its a bummer :(

Some social media site offer paid access to pics
