AD/HD. A voracious sexual appetite is common in adults with AD/HD.  AD/HD is often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed in adults. That is because it is not uncommon (especially in adults) for someone to present with the symptoms associated with attention deficit but without any apparent hyperactivity. Adults often express the hyperactivity in ways that are unavailable to children, which include hypersexuality. (And curiously, ADD or AD/HD is much more common among men than it is among women.)

the manic episodes are usually not manifested in the way people think of when it comes to mania. Nor are the manic (or depressive) episodes as acute as they are in Bi Polar I, which manifests itself in the ways we usually associate with Bi Polar.  In Bi Polar II the mania is often expressed as hypersexuality, but like all types of manic episodes, it is cyclical.

my hypo-manic episodes often manifest in extreme sexual desire and the inablility to satiate it, no matter what I do.  

I once had a four hour session with a provider and then stopped at an AMP on the way home!

No medication has helped and while I am in a deep depressive cycle now, I have a feeling the hypo-mania that is coming is going to be brutal and my wallet cannot take it right now.

It is not a fun way to live, because even great sex is not fulfilling and you hunger for it like a wild beast...not a horny teenager like you should.

Have you seen a psychiatrist/MD? Does a little lithium or other Rx help?

Highly creative people can have such an extreme insatiable sex drive. It's nothing to be ashamed of, just brught under yur control.

I have been trying to find medications that would help me for years, but I tend to be resistent to a lot of meds...not just meds for mental health.

And since mental health drugs are hit and miss, the side effects in the process of finding what works can make life miserable along the path.

Being married for 25 yrs. to a gal who was bi-polar enough to end her life about 2 yrs. ago, I can heartily agree with you.   The meds are indeed hit and miss, and just because one thing worked a few years ago doesn't mean it will still work today.   It's difficult (and expensive) to find the right combo of meds and therapy, but I can tell you from personal experience, the difference can be night and day.      I see the human body as an extremely complex 'chemical factory', whose composition can be altered by any factor, outside or from within.  Drugs can certainly alter the thought process, some good some bad.  Therapy is the same way, it just originates from within your own mind.  In my experience, it's about half and half.  Don't try this at home kids, but a combination of meds and therapy will almost always result in an improved outlook on life.             P.S. I don't mean to scare you with this, but most bi-polar meds have a side effect of 'reduced sexual desire'.  Here again, each person must make an informed choice as to what's best for them.
