As far as I know...

1.transsexual - pre-op is a man who has undergone surgery to look like a woman but still has his original "package".  Post-op TS means that his package is now a "her package", and he is now referred to as a woman.

2.transvestite - a man who dresses and possibly lives as a woman, but hasn't had any surgery (breast enhancement, etc).

3.she male - pre-op transexual

4.cross dresser - a man or woman who enjoys dressing in clothes of the opposite sex for fun or as a hobby, but do not live their lives as the opposite sex.

This is what I have learned, so if I am wrong, just let me know.

thanks

Tammie

I would say the essence is how the person feels about his/her gender.
Transsexuals (She-Males) usually think of themselves as females with the wrong set of genitals. When they are old enough they start taking measures to set that right.
Transvestites (cross-dressers) see themselves as men who like to dress up in women's clothing. Many (most?) aren't even homosexual but just get a kick out of dressing up.

thanks..sounds good..but what type of  hobbyists would visit a she male?? certainly not straight men...and I would think that gay men would be only interested in a gay male appearance rather than a sexy woman look..let me know if I'm wrong about that..

where you are wrong is in your attempt to label and pigeonhole. no insult intended, it's a very american hobby. do you feel that you, personally, are defined by any single action that you take or have taken in your life?

have you ever told a lie? even a white one? then you are a liar. L-I-A-R. end of story. (and so is everybody else in the world).

have you ever hurt someone's feelings? cheated? committed any crime, no matter how small? does that make you a cad, a cheat, a criminal?

andrew dice clay once said "what is all this trans-testicle stuff, anyway? either you SUCK DICK or you DON'T"

now, if the diceman is your spiritual leader, then maybe you buy into that. but my experience has been that some "gay" men like to feel feminine and are attracted to masculine men - and like to be on the bottom. others are still attracted to men, but like to feel masculine during sex and like to be on top. and some like a little bit of both. still other men are attracted to femininity, but at the same time are intrigued by the penis; some like it on top, others on the bottom (these are your "bi-testicles", according to reverend clay). then there are the "straight" men who have homosexual fantasies (you know who you are!). some act on those fantasies and then spend the next year rationalizing, or they "turn" gay. right now, there's a big argument going on at the transsexual board about whether sex with a transsexual escort is still manly, but sex with a transvestitie makes you a homosexual. what a bunch of maroons.

you like blondes, he likes asian girls, the other guy wants a dominatrix, and somebody else likes men. as long as they are all consenting adults, why does ANYBODY care who I want to fuck?

Why get testy about it??  If nobody should care who you fuck, why should you care what they think??

I don't actually agree completely here.  There are two types of transexuals--pre and post op.  You can't be a she-male until you actually have undergone some form of surgery that can identify you with both genders (i.e boobs and a penis).  But a post-op transexual is not a she-male.  He is now a she and can legally change their identity to live as a woman.

Transvestites and cross dressers are not the same either.  The man in a corporate suit working as a CEO may like wearing womens underwear and shoes, but that certainly doesn't make him a transvestite.  And women who like to dress in men's clothing for fun aren't referred to as transvestites either.  They are simply cross-dressers.  Transvestites usually live as a woman--most that I know and have known personally are homosexual.

they can't shop in the Petite department and you'll usually find them in the size 9 and up shoe aisle.
