I’ve been grappling with a big decision lately, and I wanted to share my thoughts and hear your opinions. I’m currently in the process of finishing my memoir, and it’s becoming more real every day. The idea of publishing it is both exciting and terrifying. The memoir chronicles my life's journey, highlighting the challenges I've faced and the lessons I've learned along the way. My hope is that it can serve as an inspiration to others who may be going through dark points in their lives.  
I believe that sharing my story could help normalize conversations around sex work in America and encourage empathy and understanding for those involved in it. However, I have some significant concerns.  
Privacy is a big issue for me. I want to protect not only my own privacy but also the privacy of the hobbyists who have supported and cared for me throughout my journey. Their stories, too, are intertwined with mine, and I worry about how they might be portrayed or misinterpreted in the narrative.  
It was actually a hobbyist who works in publishing who encouraged me to write this memoir. He said, “You just have to write a memoir.” At the time, I laughed it off and told him, “I could never!” Yet here I am, almost done with the manuscript, and I can’t help but feel a mix of pride and anxiety about what comes next. I’m curious to hear your thoughts on a few things:
Do you think sharing my story could genuinely inspire others?
How can I ensure that I protect the identities and privacy of the people involved?
What steps can I take to prevent my work from being misinterpreted or sensationalized?

How do you protect the privacy of those involved? Easy. Don't use their names and keep personal details to a minimum.  I'm not sure what the mystery is. If there's something more to this please explain.

If you are interested with the specifics about publishing a memoir on sex work I would send a message to Norma Jean Almodovar who wrote "Cop to Callgirl" that was published in the early 90's. I have spoke to her several times on sex worker rights activism, although doubtful she would remember me. She is older now obviously but still active on facebook. Best of luck!!

It's hard to answer this one without knowing much about the details. What are you trying to inspire in them? I assum your target audience for inspiring would be other escorts who you feel may connect with your personal story. So it's certainly possible if they connect with your expereince.

No names. You can change details that don't really matter to the story, like height, ethnicity, weight, hair color, etc... You can change the location, state, city, hotel, apartment, as well. Any details that add nothing to the story can help disguise who they are. Also, if your escort name is disguised along with some of these other details, I doubt they will know it's them you're referencing in the story.

 
What steps can I take to prevent my work from being misinterpreted or sensationalized?

 
You tell your narrative and wish for the best. Explain as much as possible. Be upfront and open with why you're telling your story. It can be a preface to the story itself. Stick with the facts. Share how it feels to you, but don't assume to know what other players in your story may have experienced. You can take a fact and your feelings to suggest what you think they may have felt. The key is, to state the fact and your feelings, and then lead into the "I think" statement about others in your story. Avoid extremes or exagerations. It's basically overacting on paper, which makes you less believable. In the end, the devils in the details. The more you provide, and the less you leave to the immagination, the better.

 
That said, you can only do the best you can. I have found some people will just make up their own ideas and run with it. Good luck.

Thankfully, one of my Army mentors got me into Alcoholics Anonymous, which probably saved my life. I’m now a proud 12-Stepper and a friend of Bill W. I make it a point to attend a meeting on each vacation day, especially on cruises, and since COVID, I’ve been attending a virtual meeting every day. I’ve been sober for eleven years and counting. When it comes to protecting the privacy of those involved in my life and work, the approach is quite straightforward. I simply don’t use their names and keep personal details to a minimum. It seems like a no-brainer to me, but I understand there might be some mystery surrounding this topic.

As a mother and a wife now, I’m especially cautious. My photos are everywhere, but you definitely won’t see my children or husband. Sharing their identities would not only compromise their privacy but could also out my husband as a former hobbyist in my memoir. Additionally, the memoir recounts my attendance at Joint Military Balls, events specifically designed for military hobbyists and their escorts. A lot of people know me—I'm kind of a big deal, but I’m kidding (mostly).

This raises important questions about security. Do I need to implement higher security measures for my kids? Do I still walk my dog alone? With figures like Dick Cheney and Halliburton being a part of the past, I find myself unsure of who I would trust with my security. Perhaps I would need to reach out to Liz Cheney or Jasmine Crockett for advice.  

Of course, I would never intentionally out any specific hobbyists or escorts. However, I can't help but wonder how everyone who’s taken a photo with me over the last 15 years will be perceived. Will they all be seen as hobbyists simply for being in a picture with me? It’s a complex situation, and I appreciate the opportunity to discuss it further.

I genuinely want this book to inspire others, particularly those in Gen X and Gen Alpha, as well as individuals in the escort industry. I want them to understand that life is long, and we don’t have to measure ourselves by a single mistake. In my early adult life, I made numerous mistakes that felt insurmountable at the time. I can empathize with why the suicide rate is so high in this demographic. However, it does genuinely get better, and now I find myself grateful for each of those experiences. Importantly, I don’t view escorting or stripping as mistakes; instead, I see them as forms of women's empowerment. Protecting the privacy of others is also a priority for me. I don’t want the "Epstein Effect" to tarnish the reputations of my past colleagues—just having a photo with someone shouldn't imply wrongdoing. There are numerous photos of me with prominent individuals, and I want to ensure that they aren't scandalized by mere association. I really appreciate your advice about avoiding misinterpretation. This book started as a diary, so I’m committed to keeping it as close to the facts as possible. I don’t need to exaggerate because the story itself is extraordinary. I understand there may be skepticism about some parts, but I also want to be mindful of how this book reflects on the US Military and Congress. It’s surprising, but many leaders in our nation are hobbyists. However, if you don’t understand the nuances of that world, it’s easy to misjudge them. In the Army, we were taught not to "embarrass the uniform." I don't want to embarrass it for personal gain. My goal is to share my story authentically while respecting everyone involved.

do you want the young girl contenplating SW to think twice, or do you want them to embeace their sexuality and go crazy, making as much money as they can before they settle down.

in particular, some may be interested in what kind of man would be interested in someone who was a former SWer as a LTR…

i know it is offensive, but not everyone is ok with their gf having a high body count, whether she was paid handsomely for it or not
