...Longer dates (for the purpose of this thread let's say 6hr plus and at least every 6 weeks) if your finances suddenly took a hit and you simply could not afford that kind of experience any more (and didn't see financial recovery happening) would you stop seeing SP's altogether or would you see a provider once every 6 weeks for an hour rather than nothing at all?

I am in a similar situation that you have outlined, except I used to see SP's for two hours, and when I went on vacation. I took a major hit in the finances, recovery does not look like it will happen, so I am reviewing options. Maybe an hour with a provider, instead of two, possibly nothing at all. But, things do change.
... and I would likely not take too many chances with providers I did not know, sticking with the ones I feel best being around as if I took a hit like that I would want to be with someone who made me feel better by just being glad to see me no matter what the duration.
I think I'd stop altogether. I'd just focus on civvy dating.

I would use one of my credit lines to keep the hobby going if I was temporarily cash-strapped. It happens now and then. Merely a short-term cash-flow issue. I always recover within several months, so no need to change my lifestyle as long as my creditworthiness is intact.
