TER General Board

That's scarey, Smelly. You're obviously seeing the wrong providers. (eom)angry_smile

Do you all think we should have to same type of requirements before people can particpate in the hobby and stay in the hobby ?

in practice - completely and totally ridiculous. Think about it.

If they can do it in the porno industry they can do it here on a website like this or other sites. Seems like it would be a good business model for someone to create a membership based website.

I ask the question because sometimes I hear horror stories on what providers have to go through when they see the signs. They won't say anything but they will slap the cover on in a heart beat for a bbbj if they see problems with the penis.

In the porn industry, there is an enforecement mechanism - no test results (with valid ID), no work. Of course, even that is not infallible - remember Darren James.

But in our little world, how would such a "requirement for participation" be enforced? Would you need test results to be a member of TER? Would we expect the ladies to enforce it? Would it be mutual - you show me yours and I'll show you mine? Do you really think that would or could work?

And, of course, if she does show me hers and I show her mine, and both say we're clean - well, would BBFS become the rule, not the exception? And what then are the implications of that?

Like I said - great in theory, but in the real world, will never, ever happen.

to, admit they don't get tested regularly. (The logic is that FS is covered, and therefore they aren't at risk). I believe, (based on conversations with many, many providers), that "regular and routine" testing for ALL the STDs you've mentioned is a myth. If guys want to delude themselves, feel free to do so.

The establishment of a site to provide the ladies an assurance of "tested" or medically screened individuals (hobbiests) while noble in principal may be a "no bell" concept in practice.  I have been with one (count em, ONE) provider who routinely posts her AIM results on her web site.  She is an incredibly bright and articulate lady - who I have enjoyed meeting.

That said, how would this work - practically?  and what would you wish info on?  Hepatitis?   non-viral STD's, HIV only?  parasitic infections?  (the old joke among those of us old enough to remember - what cured herpes?  answer - HIV!) (were I a provider, HPV-2 would scare the daylights outta me... because of the link to cervical cancer) the list goes on...   Not sure.

And even is this were instated, would that make some practices more acceptable?  Example, rimming...  Hepatitis A transmission?  safe? maybe not.  Unprotected sex?  think not so...

The problem lies with the last encounter - not with the testing (even though there are practical considerations of how to provide this).  What I do see however, is guys providing the information on a secure site (by their own volition protected by passwords and neutral indentification codes that they could provide when setting up an appointment).  This site may also be accessable by providers and searched by the neutral id code.  While not all hobbiests would use this, it may be an additional verification step that some providers would wish to use...?  not failsafe... but what is.

Let's all face it, there are absolutely no guarantees in this hobby....  all is dependant upon the contact with the last person... or in the case of Hepatitis (which I do worry about much more because of 1) prevelance and 2) ease of transmission; the last thing that you touched, hee hee, I do carry some hand sanitizer with me - but often forget to use it... especially during flu season...).

Would I use such a service.... maybe if it would get a discount?  or, perhaps if some ladies would not see me without it..

I see this as similar to providing a valid reference, as we saw below, it may, or may not be a valid tool.  With respect to the Porn industry, they get caught by the HIV infection every time they try to go around the safeguards...  something we could all learn a lesson from....

Testing - a good idea - providing the information - a good idea - but unless there is a way to incentivize the activity and utilization it will probably not occur - TER works and is a business model simply because of the perceived need - ie - validation of legit providers who will not rip you off...  In two words - MARKET NEED.

"I have been with one (count em, ONE) provider who routinely posts her AIM results on her web site.  She is an incredibly bright and articulate lady - who I have enjoyed meeting."

Gosh who is this?  I would like to meet this person.  It's a great idea.  Would like to feel safer.  Thanks.

I don't think we can ever place a requirement on people in this industry, but if you live in CA or travel there you can get registered with AIM-

Of course I agree with all the testing requirements they have in place - wonderful. I know I get tested every two week although I complete only one full round of testing every month- (I hate my blood being drawn.

The only reason testing is even useful in the porn industry is the concept of the "talent pool". The idea is that only people who have been tested clean are having sex together. Worker A and Worker B are clean, therefore, no infection can happen. It's not especially reliable, there are constant talent epidemics of clamydia, but it tends to catch the viral heavies that need a little incubation time to get revved up.

In the world outside of porn, gentlemen callers have wives and ladies have boyfriends, and gentlemen callers may be looking for some freebie pickup in a club downtown, and ladies may be looking to hookup and settle down to have babies. Civilian contact - outside of industry contact. It ruins everything. Your "pool" has been pissed in.

It's great idea, but impractical for any major life decisions. Some ladies get tested, some gentlemen get tested, most don't and don't really want to think it's possible they're carriers for anything. "I feel fine." "My thang don't stink." "I don't have a rash." - well, great, have you ever heard of asymptomatic infection? As far as I know bacteria and virus' are still invisible to the naked eye.
