Is it possible that a provider could pose as an escort online and even have a couple of reviews and still be an undercover cop? Has that stuff ever happened before?

Sure, a cop could pose as a provider and have other cops write some fake reviews.  But why?  Why go to all that effort to nab a john or two, one at a time?  When cops go after hookers they usually go for agencies, massage parlors, fast houses, etc.  That gets them lots of publicity and feeds their narrative of human trafficking.  Nabbing a john or two does none of that.  So, not enough bang for the buck.  I won't spend any time worrying about getting caught that way.

Providers pose as escorts all the time

Escorts pose as providers all the time
                        Because
              Providers are escorts
                     And
             Escorts are providers

Do cops pose as escorts and or providers on here and have (fake) reviews I suppose it is possible but I do not think it is likely too much trouble and work for a small return IMO

but I'm not sure they have ever had reviews.   I suppose it is not to remote to expect they could assume some gal's identity.   How far they can go is up to the client to see how much research they do.

There is also the case of a gal flipping after getting busted and assisting LE by luring clients in so they get busted.  It's not too common, but a few cases of this happening have been reported on TER over the years.

There is also the case of a gal flipping after getting busted and assisting LE by luring clients in so they get busted.  It's not too common, but a few cases of this happening have been reported on TER over the years.
The big AMP busts in NYC in 2015 occurred after 2+ years of investigations that occurred with the aid of Confidential Source 1 and Confidential Witness 1.  One or the other was a mamasan who was subject to a minor arrest in 2012 and was squeezed by LE to cooperate.
.
Most of the NYC charges were federal and related to money laundering and such. There were zero charges related to prostitution or trafficking. LE confiscated phone lists with around 70,000 numbers (but some think it is really only 35,000 unique numbers due to duplicates).
.
The bust in Seattle was also a major months-long investigation with not a lot to show for it except for lives ruined.
.
I don't think that LE will spend a lot of time or effort to target onesies or twosies.  In those cases, I think that something stupid happens: some idiot starts a fight or there is a stabbing or attempted robbery and that brings in LE and everybody gets pinched. You're minding your own and your well-reviewed hostess's business in a back room and the next thing you're sitting in the clink being charged or being held as a material witness.
.
There ARE television worthy sting operations, but the rumor mill tells us that those are from fake BP ads and rarely, if ever, involve well-reviewed providers.

Addressing what you said about flipping gals and making them comply to get out of trouble.. I am talking to and planning on meeting a provider who has told me she's been busted a few times and isn't really in the business anymore. She has some reviews, but my worry is if she's working with the law to get out of trouble... I guess there's no sure way to know til you meet her, but if she's being flipped then it's too late to back out.. what's your best advice or do you have any good advice for that situation?

If she is truly a low volume UTR indy in a nice incall (hotel, not motel), I don't see LE wasting resources to trap just one guy (unless you're somebody important - Are you the Mayor? A judge?). "We" (TER opinionators) seem to think that LE wants to set up a sting in a cheap motel room with a somewhat credible (fake or not fake, but credible), advertised hostess (often BP) who can attract many calls and visitors over the course of a few hours so they can show 5-10-more busts.
.
The "backing out" is another reason why I don't think LE would waste effort on a onesie. Set up the whole big deal and the one guy that actually made an appointment backs out. I think they want to use an ad and pics to get 50 telephone calls; let a female cop or flipped provider make 20 appointments; 10 cancel; 2 NCNS; 8 show up; 6 get pinched; the other 2 are off-duty cops who they let go. Success!
.
I do not THINK they would bother with a onesie but don't waste your phone call to call me if I'm wrong.

There's a whole porn genre of undercover female cops posing as escorts and having the tables turned on them.

What the cops seem to do here is every once in a while they rent a room at a local hotel, run a fake backpage ad, and arrest whoever shows up. They seem to do this every 6 months or so and nab several guys each time. It gets written up in a local paper ("6 arrested in trafficking sting at Crowne Plaza"). It's completely ridiculous.

It seems highly unlikely they'd go to the trouble of creating a TER account, then creating a fake provider profile, writing fake reviews, etc, when they can meet their quota of "trafficking" arrests with a simple backpage ad.

I google phone numbers - a real provider will have an escort history, a cop number will not. Also I'm wary of ads quoting low ages or low prices. Also I'm wary of hotel meet-ups at certain hotels.

Of course, if you're *really* scared, you can always take up a different hobby. Chess is pretty safe :) .

the trouble of creating a TER account is EXACTLY what they do.  This is about the only way they have a chance to go after agencies.  I have been PM'd by more than a few over the years seeking information about incall locations.  You can usually smell them coming a mile away.  Some try to chat you up by PM for a few weeks before asking, wanting to be your new best friend.   I just call them out by PM as LE and they disappear, probably changing their handle and trying to fool someone else.  This is why I never give info by PM to anyone that has no reviews and no significant board presence.  I don't even respond to alias PM's.

It is a LOT more likely that a cop will come on here pretending to be a john than it is a for LE to create a fake provider profile. As Jake correctly stated above, the return on investment is simply not worth it for LE to not only create fake provider account, but to have to create a fake reviewer to boot, keeping in mind that TER is loathe to approve a first review of a provider by a first time reviewer.

All this effort would only serve to bust a couple of TER johns as the profile would be taken down the moment TER was notified as to what had happened.

Now I will agree that LE is most definitely not just lurking, but actively mining this site for information and I strongly agree about NOT giving information to unknown TER member via PM.  I am sure you K-Girl Fan boys are at the top of the list of being sought out for information as the K-girl agencies are by far the strictest about screening and "breaking in" to the K-Girl scene is virtually impossible for an unknown Newbie, but it doesn't stop them from trying.

No disagreement from me.  My intention was to add additional information about LE activities on TER, not answer the OP's question.  I will leave that to others.

Kgirl = Korean provider. Go to TER Kgirl board for more info.

One who generally works for a Korean-run agency and provides a particular type of GFE service. There's a K-Girl Board here if you want to read it and learn more.

They're people really getting snatched up and being sold as live cattle in the real world. I think they think we're easy targets cause it actually take effort to find people in shipping crates.

Backpage is number one for stings. I have informants who let me know when to lay low and remove ads. I get the most emails on BP.
