An oft discussed topic here, but another recent article ...

I've advocated for years that we should all stay away from all forms of social media, but as the article points out, SM is no longer a frivolous pursuit, but rather a utility that raises questions among people when you tell them you don't use it.   (What's he hiding?)

If you are a young person trying to find a job in a respectable business, good luck getting accepted unless your prospective employer can check you out on SM of some kind.

I'm at the stage of my life where I can afford to turn my nose up at it, but for the younger set, I see a grave situation, not unlike that what George Orwell foresaw in his novel, 1984.

My employer sent me to a couple of HR seminars a few years ago, and one thing I learned was to avoid looking at social media accounts for job candidates. I might see something that could cause discrimination against the candidate and then open up the company to a potential lawsuit.

Unfortunately, many of the lofty principles they espouse are observed as the exceptions rather than the rules.

As a practical matter, proving that one looked at SM would be difficult, at best.

I am NOT a young person, but I think I would answer any question about my absence from SM as:
.
"SM is a huge time drain. I have REAL work to do."
'Then how do you explain all of your posts to TER?'
"It looks cloudy out there today. Do you think it will rain?"

Search Newbie, General and maybe some other boards for the phrase "Avoid Social Media Like The Plague That It Is". I use that subject line whenever I post to the Social Media topics ... and it makes clear my position on the matter.

An oft discussed topic here, but another recent article ...

Several years ago a young woman caught my eye. She had a few good reviews here, known reviewers. When I googled the number up pops a a social media account. Same face, selfies from home and work, relations, everything. Dropped an note from an address created just for that one time and moved on.
Be wise and be safe.

I've had that sort of thing happen a few times. Best was a provider who used a pic on her Eros ad AND Cupid dating profile. Cupid profile had a link to a website with her art, photography, films, etc. From the website info, you could find her Facebook page. Turns out we had a mutual friend and some of her other FB friends turned out to also providers I had seen on Eros. Note: First became aware of her on Cupid and thought it would be great to date her. Was beyond amused that she was for hire and I could see her even if she didn't respond on Cupid - lol. So...because of the commonly used pic, I ended up with way more personal info than she would have intended and she inadvertently outed her friends as well. She verified me for a date and commented on how much we seemed to have in common. Hillarious. Unfortunately we didn't follow through before she apparently moved on. Still check her FB page to see what she's up to. Getting married and very pregnant. Would never out her but too bad we didn't meet. After establishing a comfort level, for her privacy would have let her know how she exposed herself and provider friends. Writing to tell her without having met might have freaked her out, so I didn't contact her. No doubt some would have stalked, blackmailed or outed her?

On my suggestions feed for escorts I emailed, but had never booked an appointment with. It happened with a local provider once, and a second time with a fitness model escort from NY who I communicated with via email, and P411, who's fitness/personal/professional page suddenly showed up on my suggestion feed on FB.

I had to keep my personal FB account active, because apparently my business page is tied to my personal account on some level, but I don't post anymore, I don't look at the news feed and I deleted the app so I don't see notifications. IG too. I was wasting hours a week just looking at pictures and random thoughts. I'm done with social media on many levels.

to link her two fb accounts seeing that she used 2 different email accounts, which is why you should use a burner phone for the hobby. OTOH, why use a mainstream social media account to advertise when you have TER, P411 and HX that were specifically meant for the hobby? Lately, I've been seeing more bp ads that lists a weblink to her personal fb account that reveals her real name, and I'm here like why the fuck would you go through the painstaking process of coming up with an alias, then using it to create an online persona, only to give away your true identity as easy as that? It's too many stalkers out here, then you stupid bitches wonder why you're being stalked outside of work, when all your dumb ass had to do was to claim your TER profile, and promote your brand from here.
