New York Times, "A Condom-Maker’s Discovery: Size Matters" Oct 12, 2017.
http://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/12/health/condoms-penis-size.html

"... A Boston-based company has begun selling custom-fit condoms in 60 sizes, in combinations of 10 lengths and nine circumferences. ... One customer, of Austin, Tex., ordered [size] B17."
.
That guy must be huuuuuge.

In regards to the size bit: I was skeptical because I don’t find that there is enough variation amongst penis sizes amongst clients to warrant 60 sizes... I do think there should be another size, for smaller guys (when you go to the store, there’s basically normal, large, and XL.. but there should be a size smaller than normal IMO... there may already be a smaller size but I’ve never seen it)

Can you imagine a provider having all 60 sizes in her supplies? LOL
Also? I have trouble believing that most men would bother to measure their length and circumference to even make this a worthwhile endeavor. But I’m not in the business of making condoms so- best of luck to them.

Female condoms are amazing. It really sucks that FC2 reduced accessibility to them.

P.S. Love the part where the “Galactic cup” guy details his plan to just escape across the border if the FDA comes after him

The reason there are usually normal, large and XL is that no man wants to publicly by a small.  Normal is small from a marketing point.

If you wear a size 4 at an "old broads" store, you probably wear a size 6 at a store that caters to younger women.

Just like women love to "fudge" about their age, so do women love to "claim" they are still the same size they were during college. lol

Have you noticed that Starbucks doesn't serve a small or even a medium drink? There smallest size is a "tall"

Buy a 34 waist trouser, take it home and measure it, probably measures a 35.

My degree is in advertising and I often amused myself at how to market small condoms. As mentioned here, how many men out there would want to be seen at the register with "small" rubbers. Then someone nailed it by coming up with "snugger fit" condoms. Brilliant

Dang, I wish the origami condom was actually happening, I'd have signed up to be a "test subject" in a heartbeat ;)

In all seriousness, it's a really admirable effort that men are asked to take responsibility for condom usage since otherwise responsibility for birth control largely falls on women.  But this just seems like a lot of misplaced effort.

I agree with the analysis that there needs to be more external condoms ("regular condoms") that are smaller and non-latex. Roadblocks are men's egos (as pointed above, heaven forbid a man actually be honest about his penis size) and with non-latex products there is the cost issue.

So I don't understand why internal condoms ("female condoms") aren't marketed better. Except for CBJs, internal condoms solve virtually all issues re: condoms and more. Instead of putting all of that money into making a custom condom for every single dick that is found in nature, why not just make the internal condom more sexy?

That's a good question. You're making some good points. For one thing, I don't think they're ever going to convince everyone to switch to the internal condom. I've heard from men and women both who don't like them. Some women resent the idea, as you said yourself birth control often falls to them. Some guys carry condoms everywhere, just in case, get to chatting up a woman who wasn't necessarily planning on having sex the last time she left the house. Are women going to always be packing an FC or two? Some will, of course, but is it going to be a majority? I suppose guys could carry them around, but the powers that be are making them hard enough for women to get.

So I agree, the FC is great, but they're not going to render the traditional condom irrelevant. Regular condoms are still going to be used in large numbers, for a couple decades at least anyway. If they're being used, they should fit well. That increases their effectiveness, and also increases the likelihood that they'll be used in the first place.

More important than any of that, the answer to your question is right there in your question. Money. There's probably a lot more money to be made in selling custom condoms than there is in wider distribution of the FC.

I have them in my business backpack. I always take them to an appointment with a SW. I take three different types with me. And I ask which the lady prefers.
One of the reasons I take them to p4p sessions is because I'm not long but pretty thick and regular sizes are a bad stretch. So I take responsibility for my comfort.
I'm going to check out the custom condoms, they may improve the experience. And if not, at least I'll know.
