I've asked this in the past, but I'll ask again...because it's a major issue when trying to connect with hobbyists, without posting on the boards.

Please TER, figure out a way to let members know if someone is able to receive PM's. It's VERY frustrating wondering when you don't receive a reply, if they don't want to answer you...or, if they aren't able to receive PM's.

Thank you, TER!

...has VIP and thus can receive PM's.  The envelope should be replaced with a little mailbox.  The mailbox would have a red flag, indicating the person is VIP.  No red flag would mean the person cannot receive PM's.

Whether they use different icons under the handle (mail box VIP vs envelope non-VIP) or a notice to your own PM ("Recipient XXX is not VIP and cannot read your PM.") there should be SOME kind of notice.

Remember that PMs will accumulate in a user's PMbox until they become VIP at which time they can read them. I forget ... when non-VIPs check their PM for messages from Admin, does it indicate that they have unread messages? I think it does. That's supposed to get them to spring for VIP so they can read their PMs.
So I think that TER wants those guys to get PMs so they'll buy VIP.

A post-PM notice doesn't deter PMing but it let's you know that it won't be read for a while (or ever).

They just can't open them unless they are from TER. TER official messages can be read by non VIP members.

I think a lot of people here wish they would fix that. If someone posts in alias, you know they have vip, at least we have that.

Thank you, for that information!

Is there a way to PM an alias? If so, please either post the 'how to' info or PM me. Thanks xoxo

1) All aliases are VIP. (As fearghas mentioned) If you PM an alias you know he/she can read it.
2) If someone has written 2 reviews in the past month, then hey have VIP currently and can read their PMs.
3) Providers who have the link "see my reviews" under their posting handle, or who have the "send PM" button at the top of their profile have Provider VIP and can read their PMs.

Other than that there is no way of knowing if a member is VIP or basic. Msny other forums do allow you to know if a member can read or has read your PM.
Anyway this has been asked for many times like almost every suggestion on this board.

When was the last time they replied to something on this board?

I'll tell you when. June 10,2016.

We are working on this.

Any volunteers to do beta testing in the next month?

Not saying this is one of the features for testing though.

That is if you think I am active enough to properly test out the changes. lol

By the way, I am half "Guinea" I don't know if that helps or hurts.

You had to prove me wrong about admin chiming in on this thread! :D

Count me in. But ... if better PM notices is NOT "one of the features for testing though", WHAT IS?

(Searching of reviews should be easy, if pre-indexed and Boolean searched with a simple but reasonable GUI.

Thank you, for your kind reply to my thread! xoxo

I'm not tech savvy, but if someone can tell me what "beta testing" is, and if it's not too complicated...I'd be happy to volunteer.
