Suggestion for Allowing a Provider Reply to Reviews

I have had a couple of totally fake reviews posted recently. Luckily one reviewer admitted and removed the review, and TER removed the other one. It was WAY off base, out of line with the services I offer, and very different from any of my previous reviews. But I have a couple of reviews that are not fake but embellished. One indicates I did something I wouldn't be comfortable doing. I don't know who the reviewer is but from the content I'm fairly certain he saw me (or he was really good at getting info from my previous reviews to make it seem as if he saw me) and he didn't answer my PM. I assumed it was a real review and it wasn't a big enough deal to complain about to TER.
I wish TER would allow providers a place to response to reviews. I would expect there to be guidelines such as possibly no profanity, no divulging any personal info, and a max character count so responses don't turn into novels. Of course they would have to be approved. I feel being allowed to give a brief reply would be helpful. If a reviewer says they felt rushed a provider should be able to say "As you can see from my other reviews I'm not a clock watcher but he stayed 30 minutes past his scheduled time" or, for a review that says "pictures are old a provider should be able to reply "my photos were taken 2 months ago". I can think of many other circumstances but these are two recent things that were put in a friend of mines reviews. I know the flip side is it would open up a can of worms for ladies to be "not so nice" but I feel it would be helpful in many ways.  Any thoughts on if this is a good or bad idea?

This has come up before. Many seem to think that the basic idea is sound, but the devil is in the details of any implementation. Here are two recent discussions:

That is a very true statement! I'm on my way out the door this morning but will give those threads a read when I get home.
Thanks :)
