The present system of responding to threads does not seem to work that well...

When I want to post a reply to a post in a thread that is not the OP, a reply icon, just below that specific thread should appear, but sometimes it does not.   In that case, I have to go to the reply button at the end of the post, but when my response appears, it is often to the OP, not the one I wanted it to be attached to.  Keep in mind that I opened the post by clicking the specific post I wanted to reply to, not the OP.

When you open a specific post, hitting the reply button should indent my reply with that post, not the OP.  Judging by the number of posts that seem misplaced, I'd say that I'm not the only person with this problem.

Also, another pet peeve of mine is that the "return to forum" button should always be on the same side vis a vis the other options such as return to thread or post a reply.  Having it switch from left to right is annoying because it was always on the same side on the old TER layout, and now I have to carefully consider what it says instead of instinctively hitting the button from knowledge of where it used to always be.   Can we return to that?

Amen to that, Brother. There are MANY problems with the new software.
.
It is clear from trying to follow discussions that many replies are out of place, through no fault of the replier. Not only that, if you click on the subject line of a different message in a thread, the indentations change! (That is why I use Quote so much: so readers know which post I am actually replying to.) Most typically, the selected message (clicked on subject line) always has an extra indent.
OP
- reply1
- - rereply1
- reply2
.
Click on the subject line of reply2 and it displays as:
OP
- reply1
- - rereply1
- - reply2
.
It is nearly impossible to follow a thread with the new time stamp system. That means I either re-read too many posts or completely miss too many posts .... and sometimes reply redundantly to the wrong post. E.g., Login at 0100. Read a new topic. Login at 0500, see some new posts that say posted "3 hours ago", "1 hour ago", "10 minutes ago." Login at 1000 and see a bunch of posts that all say "yesterday"!!! The "3 hour" should now be "8 hour" and newer posts should be "5 hours ago" or less.
.
As previously discussed, TER's new system mixes up calendar dates and clock time.  An item posted at 11:58 PM is "one minute ago" at 11:59 PM but becomes "yesterday" two minutes later at 12:01 AM (because the calendar page was turned). A post that goes up at 12:01 AM doesn't become a "yesterday" post until 24 clock hours have elapsed and the calendar page gets turned. BRING BACK THE OLD EXPLICIT TIME STAMPS.
.
TER claims that there is a way to display the time stamps by mouse hovering.  Many have reported that hovering does NOT work but no one has ever posted that it actually does work.
.
Per usual, I will add my suggestion that TER switch to open source Forum software with tried and true features, robust programming, continuous (free) bug checking and bug fixing, etc.. They would have to do some customization (add links to Profiles or Reviews maintained outside of the forum), but I think it would be better than trying to go it alone.
.
EDIT: I just had to correct a typo. But there is no "Edit Message" option underneath my post. I have to click on my own subject line and load that page view. Then, under the Actions drop down button is the Edit Message link. JUST PUT THE EDIT MESSAGE LINK directly under my post, along with Reply Quote Report Like!, until the 4-hour window expires.

TER site doesn't seem as user friendly as in the past.
