I don't think they get rid of a guy who has won 2 Super Bowls in his first 5 years.  He is too important to that team.

The only scenario I could see them discarding him is if the Rams call up with an offer for the first pick and they can pick up Bradford.  But rookie QB's rarely perform well.

enough offer. They're not going to trade just for the sake of trading.

I've been a Steeler diehard fan since the age of 5 and a current season ticket holder. If they moved Ben in a trade it wouldn’t bother me in the least. I root for the Pittsburgh Steelers, not any player. Not now, not ever. The Steelers could cut today all 53 players and sign 53 replacements. I'd still root for the Pittsburgh Steelers

However, trading Ben would be a HUGE mistake. It took the Steelers over 20 years between Bradshaw's retirement and the start of the Roethlisberger era. They had a myriad of QB's during that time; including the immortals Mark Malone, Cliff Stoudt, Todd Blackledge and David Woodley. Franchise winning QB's are so far and few between. Once you have one, you simply can not let them go.

Look at the history of the NFL. Name me a team who had a period of sustained success (i.e. at least a 6-8 year stretch) of making the playoffs, making championship games, and even winning championships, that did not have a Hall of Fame QB or at the least a perennial pro-bowler (i.e. someone at least the level of Donovan McNabb). Look at the history of the NFL and those teams that were considered dynasties...Browns with Otto Graham, Packers with Bart Star, Cowboys with Stauback and Aikman, Colts with Unitas and now Manning, Steelers with Bradshaw, Patriots with Brady, 49er's with Montana and Young, etc., etc. They ALL had Hall of fame signal callers. You CAN NOT WIN consistently in the NFL without a franchise QB. Yes, you can be a one hit wonder (aka Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, etc.) and lead your team to a Super Bowl title. But if your franchise is going to enjoy yearly success and always have the ability to challenge for the playoffs (and once you are in the playoffs, a Super Bowl is quite possible) you MUST have the QB in place.

Which brings me back to issue at hand: Trade or Not to Trade Big Ben. For all those people who want to trade Ben on the basis of morality (remember no charges were filed and the police report is her version of the events that transpired) are the same fans who will be screaming at Steeler management 5 years from now when the team is floundering (and looking for a consistent QB to start) while Ben is still flourishing and thriving in this league (and still only 33 years old) for another team.

You DONT trade your franchise QB who has already won 2 Super Bowls in his first 6 seasons. Anyone else on the team is expendable (and would have already been traded or released if they did what Ben allegedly did....double standard for sure). Simply, franchise winning QB's are really not replaceable no matter how many draft picks or combination of second tier players you acquire.
