Gotta root for Butler.

Thank you

While my personal joy is muted by the Great One's post below, I have had a super week. At a local M and G, I met and had a wild evening with this absolutely stunningly beautiful girl who was so smokin' and gorgeous that she would make Pam Anderson look like Miss Hathaway on the "Beverly Hillbillies" -Well, OK, that's a bit of an exaggeration for effect, but you get the picture-She was a mega 10, though -smile. Enuff of that.
Re Duke-WVU, the S boys with superb 3 pt shooting all had great games and the often maligned-including by me-Zoubek was awesome off the boards and had a few big baskets, making a major contribution. It was Duke's best team effort all year, IMHO, with all cylinders clicking. I hated to see Butler get hurt. Once he went out the Mountaineers were done. Duke should win on Monday.
But I really love this Butler team-what a gutty bunch of kids and what super over achievers!
Brad Stevens has done just an incredible job with them and easily did the best coaching job in the country this season. On a personal note, I have known one of the Butler players since he was 13 and my best friend coached him for 6 years. His Mom died when he was small and he has had it pretty rough. It is wonderful to see him doing so well and he made a crucial rebound and assist in last night's game. Further, one of the boys I coached in tennis, beat Hayward, who is also a fine tennis player, at the Indiana State Tournament a couple of years ago. Hayward is a class young man and one hell of a basketball player. While, of course, I'm pulling for Duke, there is certainly a more than a small place in my heart for this wonderful Butler team, who have more than a little 'Hickory and Jimmy Chitwood' in them. smile  1rob....later, Gang...OUT

Ok, Coach,
Hell, I've rooted against them Damn Yankees for over 50 years-so we're even-ha ha   But the nation-with the exception of us Dukies-will be pulling for Butler, who are easily the team story of the year   Later, 1rob

because their execution was nearly flawless, and as a UK fan I wouldn't have wanted to play them last night. It is too bad we couldn't see UK play Duke and then the winner get Kansas, but Butler is the year's best story. But I'm afraid they'll look like the lamb shank at a passover Seder when Duke finishes picking the meat off their bones tomorrow night. Butler's one chance- prayer en masse and a Hoosier God with pity.

I've always thought that UK fans are the best ones around-Great knowledge, support and class.
Butler will have trouble scoring, I believe, as I think that Hayward and Mack are the only ones who look to score and can do it. If Mack is hurt, it could be a long night for the Bulldogs.
I can't figure why Howard, the 3rd great player for Butler, seems to always get into foul trouble. Duke certainly has the talent edge, but they did in 99 too and came up short. Thanks for the write and the smile-1rob

Butler is no Cinderella.  They were even favored in the Michigan State game.  Butler won what was their worst game in the tournament, because execution has no bad days:

Givens:

Butler will play good tough defense
Butler will get the defensive rebounds
Butler will take care of the ball
Butler will move the ball around unselfishly
Butler will make their free throws

Duke however is very similar.

Remember no team is as bad as it looks on its worst day and no team is as good as it looked on its best day.   Duke had a tough day against Baylor....came back on all cylinders.  Now Butler had their worst day....don't count on another 30% shooting day.

Say what you want about Duke and their 13 3's.  I bet that does not happen again, and the Bulldogs can for sure shoot the 3.  I look for a good game, but figure Duke to win close.
