2 weeks out?

Wow, that's a hell of a lot of preplanning. I don't usually plan an appt that far ahead as so many things can change in my schedule. I may reach out to double check your schedule and availability but never book that far out.

I would think a deposit is a fair ask for your commitment to that time booked so far in advance. If nothing else, it may give someone pause before they commit as they have something to lose.

I have had 5 appointments recently that have rescheduled multiple times or appts made weeks in advance and then the day before or even the day of are canceled or changed to a different date or time. Errg. This is so frustrating because I turn down other opportunities believing that I have a confirmed appt. Also, I only do this part time and my schedule is flexible but very limited. So, when I have an appt I expect them to be there when they are scheduled to be. I know stuff happens but it shouldn't happen this often. My time is just as valuable as the person making an appt to see me.

I think, I may start requiring a deposit on all appts that are made 2 weeks or more in advance. I would appreciate both Hobbyists and Providers feedback on this topic please.

Thanks,
Olivia

Try it out and see what the response is. 2 weeks out is pretty far, I think it's fair. Personally I require deposits on appointments over a certain duration, outside of my pre-set times, outcalls to the suburbs.

Personally, I require deposits on all dates over 4+ hours. In addition, when on tour, all bookings require a 25% deposit. I place all the deposit money in a separate account that I do not touch just in case a client cancels 48H beforehand. That way I can easily send it back.

Since implementing a deposit and cancellation policy, I have seen a sharp uptick in more serious inquiries, extended engagements, and clients that I really vibe with. Plus, most businesses require a deposit. You're running a business too, so you should run it as you see fit.

Good Luck!

I for one, won't see a lady requiring a deposit.  I've been burnt before. (a couple of times actually).

The reason is quite simple, theres no way to reimburse me for the cash I've gave you except to send it back immediately if you, the provider, cancels.  And thats not going to happen.

It may work for local ladies, seeing local guys, but a guy that travels alot, is not going to risk an a no show deposit arrangement.  I mean really, he's traveling to your city for a couple of days.  He won't be back for a while, if ever.  So, you're telling me you'll give an extra hour the next time doesn't cut it.  Plus you've now made it just about impossible for me to find some one else on short notice.

Just be careful.

I travel alot, I'm willing to spend 1K on a 2 hour appointment. But I'd never put down a 500 dollar deposit, just seems stupid.
